Thought I would see if anyone here as interest in my CR500 motard. It's a '97 that was built at a race shop in Florida. It's tough to find anything that was not upgraded or modded. Frame and motor are black powdercoat, ohlins front and rear, Braking 4 piston front caliper and big rotor, Brembo radial master cyl, excel wheels, ported head, baja designs light kit at stator. The list goes on and on. I've also got a clear big fuel tank for it, not pictured. Bike is plated in VT and has been registered/titled in VT and FL and spent a few years in Cali as a track bike.
It's not perfect but it's damn good. Could use a little clean up on the wiring for the headlight. And could still use a little tuning I think from it's former Cali jetting. Runs great at idle and wide open, less good if trying to cruise on the street. Not sure if it actually will ever 'cruise' though
I just don't use it enough to justify keeping it and a big house project this summer means I definitely won't have any time for track days soon. But it is sweet and I love looking at it in the garage
Give a call to VT (802) area code 316-0567 if you want more info.
PRICE - $4000

Sweet bike. They cruise, it just takes patience and tuning.
Holy shitbuckets Batman. Id love to hammer that thing..scare the piss outta myself!
It's a pussycat John, I swear
B440 - I assume it will be amazing once 100% dialed. I haven't had time to mess with it since my daughter was born a year ago and don't see that changing too much for a while. Never heard that one before right? I think it's close now and probably needs to go up one more size in main jet. I've been tempted to get a JD kit for it. I put one in a KTM 525 motard and it was great.
The power it makes is really great. Very non-2 stroke. It's pretty linear power with no big surge like a typical 2 stroke. Just lots of power ALL of the time. LOL
ha. Daughter. I'm right there with ya, but lucky enough to have grandparents that will watch her on Saturdays, which leaves me time in the garage without interruption.
Hehe, we use her Grandmother during the week so my wife can work and not have to pay huge $$$ for daycare. So the weekend option is mostly out. Can't win them all I guess.
If my project list wasn't also stacked with a bunch of stuff for our house and property and the other bikes I might have a chance to get to this one. I was up to 9 bikes there for a while but have been steadily scaling back with the hope I will actually get to focus on the ones I keep. Look for a CB1 project coming up for sale soon once I take some pics...

Let's bring this back from the dead. I still have this bike and still don't ride it. May not have put any miles on it since these pictures actually...
Let's get this rig gone - $5000 cash and I'll throw in a Scott's damper. Near burlington vt.
Part it out. <---hint
It's tempting but way too much work and I would hate to get stuck with half of it. I know a way you could have all the parts![]()
It's worth more on the west coast and Australia, and easier to get there in pieces.
death bike
so much awesomeness in 1 bike...too much for me

Wirelessly posted
So much want!! Maybe next summer if it's still available

this thing makes having thoughts that would get me arrested
Is this legal for the motard class? <sarcasm, not really>
Good luck with your sale!

Still run out of gears like any other close-ratio dirt bike.
Just gear it to the moon and don't plan on going slow. My ktm525smc was like that. Not sure why ktm made that bike have such a shitty transmission.
Ok, last price drop. $4,000 and it's yours. I haven't even rolled it out of the barn yet and washed it up. I sort of hate to do it because I don't want to get any bright ideas about hanging on to it... I know I won't have any time for it this summer and would rather see it get used. That and I sort of made a deal with my wife about this one going away when I go the 625SMC a couple weeks ago...
This would be so much fun to race except for the painful highsides, I really want it.

haha I've had that thought too. I was actually a bit surprised how mellow (totally the wrong word - really linear is more accurate) the power delivery is. Granted, it still needs some jetting dialing in and I haven't had it on the track... I think two things tame it a bit - the stator must act as a flywheel weight and the 17" wheels must be heavier than dirt I assume. So I think there is a bit more reciprocating mass that helps keep it reasonable. Not to say it isn't a tractor though. I'm not sure I would ever ride a 500 in the woods! I'm not sure you could stall it so you just go whatever speed idle is in the given gear! It's very 4 stroke-ish in that respect.
Sorry to chat up your for sale thread. It's just such an interesting machine. I've ridden a few in dirt form and they're nothing but smiles. I remember a guy in CA building one of these up, followed the build on BARF. Is that you?
