the only reason i took it out of service is i wanted the option to burn coal and wood. so i got a harman last year.

I have the Hearthstone Mansfield in my house, had it three years now. It is a great stove, the soapstone is nice because it doesn't get as hot as iron or steel, and it does hold the heat for a while. You don't need a lot of clearance with this stove, and you don't have to achieve a high R value under it either. It does take a bit longer to warm up than a conventional stove, I tend to burn 24/7 with mine for up to three weeks at a time so it doesn't affect me much.
