Thinking about upgrading soon. I'd like to take it to track day before I do, but just want to start getting the word out to see if anyone is interested. I got it not too long ago with the idea that a 600 would be close to too much for me and I would be able to take my time learning on it, and once I got the hang of it and got some experience I would upgrade to a fuel injected 600.
Well I learned faster than I had expected and am making some money this summer so I'll put some of it to a bike upgrade.
I bought it with 21,800 miles in late February and it has about 23,900 now. Previous owner rebuilt the motor with piston kit, new gaskets, valves, etc. at 20,200 miles (didn't get documentation for it but engine runs as smooth as new, no hesitation or flat spots, pulls very hard). It came also with CBR grips and bar ends, a 5 minute LED job which I never cared to display, some carbon fiber on the triple tree and around the gauges, and a vance and hines pipe.
I added: vortex rear sets, CRG adjustable levers, some sweet front blinkers, new pilot power tires, a new K&N filter, I have a new seat on the way, and I have a two bros. full exhaust that I still haven't installed (the V&H can has a small leak between the rivets and pops a lot). If I were to keep the bike I would put the full exhaust on with a jet kit, maybe new chain and sprocket kit and an F4i rear shock.
The bad: seems like it was dropped on the right hand side at some point, has some light scratches, but didn't really bother me so I never got a new fairing (fairing costs $70). Otherwise it has normal wear you would expect for a 11 year old bike.
I'm asking $3500 with the 2 bros. full exhaust included (not installed).

wow, that bike looks familiar... my boyfriend has the same one. i had to do a double take because you don't see many of that scheme around. then i saw that your rear plastics were still in tact. someone rear ended his a couple years back.
i know several people that are wet over that bike & have tried to buy it off of him. i'll make sure that i forward them to your thread.
p.s. if you know anyone, anywhere, that sells the plastics in the tail section... it would help out tremendously - i'm in a desperate search.

bump... willing to negotiate, I found the bike I want and will need to sell this soon. Would like to sell it to someone on the forums preferably before putting it on e-bay/CL.
It has brand new tires!! They were expensive (think relative to the cost of the bike, lol)!! I had forgotten to mention this but the day after I got it I put on a new set of Michelin Pilot Powers.

in the sun with that camera the purple came out blue-ish but trust me it's purple and it is the right color. The wheels are supposed to be yellow, don't know why but he didn't like them and put black ones on. Also the third little piece that goes in between the two tail fairings is white because the yellow one had broken tabs and ended up falling off. I put a yellow decal on it- tho I hate decals- but it was the shop's suggestion to make the white work better with the rest of the bike.
I looked around at other F3s with similar high mileage and none of them ran like this one. The gasket looks new from the outside and all the head bolts and manifold bolts are new. The mechanic at the shop couldn't verify it 100% unless he took the motor apart, but from the outside he said it looked like it had been opened up and worked on since the bolts look new.
But I agree, I'm not going to guarantee that it was rebuilt; though after riding it for a some thousand miles I personally believe it was. Even if you forget that and just consider it has 23k miles, that's still a hell of a deal for 2500- these bikes don't break.
I went by Greater Boston Motorsports to get the R6 inspection sticker and the guy recognized me (damnit) so I told him I would bring the bike by on Sunday (I had agreed with him to take it over and I thought he wouldnt care if i didnt call him back but he wants it). so I will most likely take it over there for them to evaluate it. They do a compression test and a bunch of other stuff, so that should tell if the motor has been freshened up.

ok, talked to the dealer. they will give 2000 for it. The result was engine is very good, fuel system is good, brakes are good, suspension is fine- no leaks, cables are fair- may need to be replaced in the near future, and they said the clutch is fair. He said if they were to put it for sale and to be mint they would probably put new cables and a new clutch in it though he said it isn't something that needs urgent attention.
I personally laughed at him when he said the clutch was fair. I mean I'm on a brand new bike and the clutch on the F3 didn't feel any different. No slippage or anything. If anyone is interested I wouldn't mind letting you test the bike as long as you have a license and know how to ride a bike (and have cash to get the bike if you like it or drop it).
So guys that are interested u have PM. I'll take 2300 for it. The guy told me 2500 was a really good price for it considering blue book is 2850 for a 97 with 30k miles..
