It means you can use it on any carrier that has the same frequency AT&T and gsm base network. It will not work on Verizon and Spring.

So yes, and unlocked phone can work on most networks.

That is true but on the iPhone 5 you will not get LTE but hspa will work. I wouldn't waste my time with a Verizon iPhone being a AT&T user.

In the case of the 5. Model #A1428 is built for AT&T/TMobile and is GSM only. Model #A1429 is built for Verizon/Sprint and has both.

So depending on which one it is, it may only be usable on GSM networks.
