They are rock solid, work, easy to use and hold for ever. Make sure you brace the deck every 10 inches with some joist hangers or just screws through and you'll be fine.
NESR Racing used those wooden box stands back in the day, they worked really well. Very sturdy and I believe they put grip tape strips on top for the stands. No Idea who made them from the team but we used them all season.

doc, 3/4" plywood would be fine... but IMO, you're going to want more than a 24" top if you plan on working on the bike while it's up there.
