Wow! I remember test driving one, a used one, about 20 years ago. The VR6 and manual transmission were smooth as butter. The steering had proper hydraulic heft - none of the electric bull. The trunk was MASSIVE! It was so long ago that I don't remember why I didn't buy it :-)
I did purchase a 2002 B5.5 wagon with manual which served our family very well for almost 11 years. Later got a B6 wagon. The 1995 VR6 was the most fun to drive.

My dad had a similarly loaded 97, which was a massive facelift. Learned to drive on that car.
