Looking at getting a truck for next year, don't really "need" to sell this, but figured I'd toss it out there.
Very, clean 1991 VW Jetta GLi 16v
I'm looking for $5000 with both sets of wheels, and all the spare parts which cover upcoming maintenance for a... while. Email scottieducati@gmail.com with interest please...
~169k miles, full engine rebuild w/ block @ 153k miles, I have full receipts and documentation from the P.O. I routinely get 28-34 mpg on the highway (depending on how fast I'm goin..), this car purrs like an absolute kitten. Receipts for the engine rebuild total just under $4k alone.
-Full electrical / grounding rehab in the spring, not really because it needed it but I wanted the headlights brighter (which they are now), and she starts quicker / easier.
- Shine Real Street Suspension (Bilstein Struts, Shine Springs, Shine Swaybar) installed along with new control arms and engine mounts. She does not squeak, or make weird noises on the road what-so-ever. She rides beautifully and handles like a CHAMP. This was also installed in early spring. Suspension work and all the related misc bits have full receipts, and ran around $2500....
- Replica BBS wheels which are in beautiful shape, I have one small bend in the lip of a wheel which still holds air, I've been driving on it as-is for about 5k miles w/ no issues. Just removed the summer wheels and tires and plan to send the one that's bent to Rim Pro and have it all sorted out!
- Set of very good snow tires on BMW Bottlecaps ready for winter duty, tires on the car now have plenty of tread and should easily last another season after this one....
- Recent maintenance, within the past month:
*Transmission fluid flush, replaced w/ Mobil 1 transmission fluid
*Speedo cable replacement w/ gasket @ transmission
*Full coolant flush (twice) with coolant system cleaner, filled with VW G12 Coolant
*Full brake fluid change and bleed.
*K&N Air Filter
*Fresh spark plugs (old ones a nice chaulky tan / brown... perfect air fuel ratio and combustion! :-D
*I have Mk IV rear calipers going on this weekend as one of the rears has a very slight drag to it.... New rear brake pads as well.
*Redid some of the weather stripping and sealed it all up
*Brand new windshield, the old seal had a very, very small leak and I didn't want any issues over the winter
*I also have the following parts (planned for install in the spring)
-Brand new Timing Belt, V-Belts (accessory)
-Front x-drilled rotors w/ EBC Green Pads + brand new OEM rear rotors (Mk IV calipers in the rear just got new pads, those should be fine in the spring)
- 10 - Oil Filters + Crush Washers
- Really not much else to say, this car is clean....
Audio: Alpine CD player w/ XM Sat Radio and AudioBahn tube-sub in the trunk, everything works stellar.
Probably one of the cleanest 16v daily drivers you could ask for, price is indicative of what you get (spare wheels ~$1000 can easily be dropped off the asking price if you don't want em), Brake Rotors / Pads alone are around $250, etc...

And best of all you can keep the "Pirelli" stickers that are on the car
I have this up on VWVortex, don't expect much interest from here but figured you never know...
Awesome car!
they didn't put on a new timing belt during the rebuild? very clean for the year and mileage.
you are NOT allowed to sell this car!!! NOOOOOOOOOO
this is a sweet car
1995 Honda RVF400
2003 SV650 Superbike ...eat a dick Scottie
2007 Ducati S2R1000
Nice looking GLI, good luck with the sale. For all you have into it, I would run it into the ground instead of selling.
dude sweet car. you should just keep it as i have found even the best car with the best mods will only go for maybe a grand over kbb value. keep it and autocross it. it is too bad kbb doesn't take in to account the cult following some models have. they listed this one at $2595 in Excelent condition w/20k mi. damn shame, good luck with the sale.
Wow, that is a gorgeous MkII. I owned several rabbits and a GTi VR6, I'm a recovering dubaholic
I'll send the link off to a few of local VW nuts.
Thanks buddy. I found my truck, going to check it out tomorrow and will very, very likely be leaving a deposit. I'm really torn on selling the GLi, on one hand it'll help financially, on the other it makes a LOT of sense to keep it as a daily.. we'll see!
Super clean mkII, I'd say keep it as a daily if you can afford too, you'll miss it if you sell it.....![]()
^ rofl everytime i see something interesting and i go to reply your in the thread somewhere
don't sell the dub
damn nice car. you might want to put on tdiclub too.
or vwvortex
Trust me I know I'll miss it if I sell it. And I'm probably at 75% towards keeping it. I've basically redone the entire suspension, all rubber mounts (motor, suspension, control arm bushings, etc.), have all new brakes ready to go in this weekend, new windshield, etc... She's pretty damn mint I must say.
