The folks over at SVrider love this mod, my '03 SV came with one installed. It fit with no modifications at all, just barely rubbed the plastic battery housing on occasion.
Pretorius, what did you think of the shock? I put one on my '01 right before it went into storage, never had the chance to test it.

I must admit that I only rode with it on the street, but I thought it was an improvement over stock. The SVs I test-rode before mine were bone stock and I hated them. When I test-rode mine it was like a completely different bike (also had springs/emulators up front). It would deflect over really harsh bumps and was not pleasant on Providence streets, but otherwise it was a nice improvement.
PK has a thread on here explaining all the reasons you shouldn't do franken-swaps without revalving, but for $40 on a street bike I would do it again.
Hmm. Wonder if it would fit a Wee Strom...
