SOLD
All you guys pining for a street legal 2 stroke classic, here is your chance!
I am selling my 1977 RD400.
This would make a great restoration of cafe racer project.
I picked this up as a project but as I already have 2 bikes awaiting restoration, I have decided it was something of an impulse buy and it needs to go before it becomes another garage fixture!
I bought it in boxes and assembled it to see what parts were missing
It is all there less the stands and a throttle tube, it does have a clean Massachusetts title!
I was told the bike was an abandoned project 15 years ago and has sat in dry storage since!
It looks OK in the pictures but does not run, the tank is rusty on the inside and had a couple of brazed areas where it may have leaked but could possibly be sealed and repainted. It has new tires but they are 15 years old! Both front and rear brake systems require a full rebuild with new seals. I was also told the bike has a fresh top end but didn't take the heads off to check.
The pipes are Toomeys which are very rare but one is dented underneath and the other has some small rust holes, these could probably be repaired. Seat is in very good condition with just one small tear along one of the molded seams, the base is good. All the locks and ignition are in great shape and still use the original key, Most of the fasteners are original indicating a pretty unmolested life! It has had most of the chrome painted Black and the condition beneath the paint is unknown.
$500. Come and take it!!
I have tried to describe it accurately but please PM me with any other questions.

Cheers
Neil.

You still have it?
"When there's a gap you either commit yourself as a professional racing driver that is designed to win races or you come second or you come third or come fifth, and I'm not designed to come third, fourth, or fifth. I race to win, and if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you're no longer a racing driver."

I'm a buyer if its still around
can you hold out till i get back? got alot of attention on here
Wow, havent been on the forum for a couple of days. Justin has dibs but is on vacation.
I will reply in order of interest if he doesn't take it.
Cheers guys!
Not that I really want to see this sold until I'm ready to buy it, but if you still have it next month Neal it might be worth bringing it out to this event.

OK, had a crazy couple of weeks and havent even looked in the garage.
I held the bike for Justin (jpalein223) but he went on vacation, and since he hasnt replied to my PM or phone call so I am putting this back up.
Price is $500 firm, I would rather this go to someone who will get it going again and prefer to deal here than CL. Chip (chippertheripper) has seen the bike if anyone wants verification of the condition.
If you have expressed interest and are still interested, PM me, I am home this week (I usually travel for work) so can show it most days or evenings.
