but the long and the short of it is a cracked left side engine case, due to a rock that snuck up on me in a grassy section of a trail I was riding on with the dr650

Hope the parts don't take to long to come in. I'll find out tomorrow. but its in the $150 ball park.

the good news is that I was only 5 mins from home and the trail out to the road was flat then down hill, I couldn't have picked a better place to break down. The even better part is that I just parked the truck and took out the wifes 200 to finish out the day.

Sounds like a side case cover, who needs pictures anyways? Frikken sucks any way you slice it.
