winter (cringe). Took this beautiful afternoon to really clean up the dirtbikes. Every year I get caught by the cold weather with filthy bikes and that makes winter maintenance a pain in the ass. So, instead of riding today, I cleaned the bikes, washing them twice, and getting in around the engine as much as possible.
I'm going to pull the shock for servicing, and possibly do a fresh piston in the 250f just for good measure. I have almost 2 seasons on it now (probably 60+hours), and they don't last forever... Timing chain will also get replaced and perhaps swingarm bearings.
I know it's still mild out, but last year winter arrived one day, and didn't quit until march.
Word. I was hoping to do the same thing, but I decided to dump 5 quarts of used motor oil on my driveway after doing an oil change on my Pathfinder and spend the rest of my afternoon cleaning that up instead.

You had to say it! If it snows now, it's your fault
Only time of year you shouldn't be riding is during the spring thaw...and that leaves plenty of time to get those maintenance items worked on

Had my first chance to ride dirty so far this year today, but tweaked the hell out of my neck/back this week and ended up spending half a grand on electrical supplies at Home Depot. Boooo.

This morning the hose was frozen solid. I hadn't been feeling very well, so I did not ride today, but I did hook up a hose to my water heater and wash the ATV and my KDX down. Warm water works wonders, in terms of washing machinery down. I also found my KDX's chain guide hanging by only one bolt, so I repaired that. I also started prepping my spare wheels for winter. It was probably a bad decision to try to remove a 10 year old, inflated, Kings tire from my spare wheel on a 30 degree day. I got it off, but it was tough! I do not know how long Kings has been making tires, but this one must have been one of their first. That thing is as hard as a rock.
My bike was spotless and put away... And now it's filthy and I'm exhausted!![]()
oh well... Supposed to be warm Monday... Guess I'll detail it again!
got a few hours in on the yz today and did much better than last time out on the wr , only had 1 interaction with gravity on a root mid corner .
got the bikes power washed , blew out the hoses , and shut the outside faucets off, put the hoses away . though as long as the white crap stays away I might get back out for another trail day , and I'll drag the hoses out if need be .
