Georgetown - anyone know the fate?

Is it forever to be closed to ORVs? I never even got the chance to ride it, I'm just curious if it will ever reopen.

Knowing absolutely nothing about this particular case, but based solely on precedent, I'd say it's gone forever. But as I said, I know absolutely nothing. I'm sorry. This was a useless post.

I also am not sure but if i were to guess id say its not gone......but i dont know its only based on precedent

As per DCR's filter criteria, it will not again be open for ORV use.

Did you attend any of the meetings that were held for the purpose of public comment? Not that'd it matter to the DCR and their agenda.

nope. I'll blame ignorance on that one. Didn't know when/where they were. Of course I didn't get into dirty riding till last Fall.

I just found out DCR is trying to shut down my local spot even though it's on private land. They have tried to buy it, but the owners are not cooperating...

Paul, check the Mass. GIS website. It has overlays of all types of data, including "sensitive habitat" and watershed-type areas. If they reckon it should be off-limits to motorized use, they'll shut it down one way or another. Yes, on private land. Try to get a building permit and you'll see what they can do. Water protection and preserving open space is becoming a HUGE issue. Kinda wish I'd pursued enviro studies way back.

It seems to be like this everywhere... Kind of makes me wonder why the manufacturers aren't more involved... (are they invlved at all?) Who's gonna want to buy a new dirt bike/quad, etc when there's nowhere to ride?
