IT would be cool to have a split screen of the helmet cam and a camera showing the actual event from a distance. I know there are no cameras in the woods, but it would be interesting.

Paul, some large percentage of dirtybike crashes are also related to target fixation. Another (especially in the woods) category would be the accidental bar clip.
I'm not necessarily a subscriber that there's a need for a beginner to start on a smaller bike, like on the street. I also don't have the energy for a pissing contest on the topic, so I'll just politely agree to disagree on that.

Personally, I think many of my crashes are poor line. Cross rutted. Trying to climb the inside of a rut. Not looking far enough ahead and picking a really dumb line through a rock garden. Crap like that.
But then my crashes make for a lousy highlight reel.
My boss just gave me a GoPro. Maybe I'll have something to add to this shenannery someday.

Yeah. Look how far I've come. Used to be I could only throw them down a hill or off a race track!
Mine mostly involve obstacles. Failure to commit or failure to plan for what comes after.
They said buy a dirt bike. They said it would be fun.
The 2 strokes are way more dramatic of crashes. Just the sound makes me know something is going to go wrong!
That is the sound of excitement...

I dunno...in CA I did XR100->DR200->YZ250 and I DEFINITELY still have a ton of bad accidents that only happen on that YZ...I honestly never really *needed* anything bigger than that dr200 to have fun in the dirt
like a really hot bitch, when it's bad it's really bad...but when it's good, it's so good...so naturally, I wanted it

Might as well dust off this gem! BoxMonkey cameo at 3:20. I was a 100% sit-down rider back then and I paid the price often.
Gotta admit.. I lolled quite a bit at some of those

Thanks Doug.
Don't let the video fool you, the terrain in the second half of the video is harder than it looks. Rode the toys for tots ride and a PSTR race there once, it can be pretty gnarly in certain sections.
That's "the farm"? Yeah, I had a tough time there once as well.
Had a doozy this weekend. Managed to high-side myself off a dirt bike for the first time. Did not have the camera going, otherwise it may have been a contender for this thread. Neck is still stiff from that one. What really offends me is that it was on the easy, graded ATV "kiddie" section at Clough. 20' from the truck, just warming up.. WHAM!
