I had tentative plans today to trail ride at Pachaug state forest in Ct with Bob M, not that I was looking forward to it after spending Saturday at Crow Hill but hey, how can you pass up a good ride![]()
Well the plans changed Saturday evening, I was already sore as hell from the MX track and was thinking of excuses to back out of Sundays rideI talked to Bob on the phone and he said forget Pachaug, lets do something easy!!! So the plans had changed and another rider added.
I get up somewhat early after a rather late night of drinking and gather my stuff for the days ride. I still had to unload the truck from the MX track and reload it for todays adventure, 2 sets of riding gear comes in handy on weekends like this!!
Bob, Sean and myself left from Bob's house about 10am, he said we are going to Wrentham (or was it Foxborrow? ) and we would just go on the easy trails!!! Yeah rite![]()
I had never been there before so I had no idea what to expect, I just figured there would be less rocks than Pachaug..well because Bob said it was easier.. haha It actaully wasn't all that bad until I had a couple small problems with gravity. Not sure what I did but the first time I fell, I fell down hill and smacked my head on a tree. Little dizzy spell but it only lasted a few minutes, I just wanna rideI should have known when Bob asked for my camera that something challenging (for me anyways) was ahead of us. As I go up the trail, I see the rock face and Sean pointing to the line and Bob pointing the camera. Well I think I made it most of the way up and then stalled the bike, that's when my adventure back down started. I'm not sure if Bob missed me in this picture or I was already on the ground below and out of site.
I felt OK for the most part but I knew I had some bumps and bruses from that one (confirmed after a shower when I got home). It was alot of fun in there for the most part, I'd like to go back when I'm not as sore from riding the day before though![]()
After lunch we rode some powerlines and played in the puddles, felt like a couple little kids..
The biggest kid, Bob
Sean
I didn't want to, but!!!!
Good ride today, thanks for leading Bob

That was a blast today!!! Sorry about the hills today Mark, those baby heads really grew since I was there last july. It look like some major washouts also. We should have gone to Franklin forest instead.
On a side note it took me 12 seconds to get home
It was good riding with you Sean and Mark as usual, see you next Sunday.

Nice! I had a two-fer this weekend as well. Tim Moore, Tony and I hit up Pittsfield State Forest for some pretty quick trail riding today. It was much more punishing than the MX track!
I had the save of the day. In a high speed hill climb (3rd gear) there was a 6 foot vertical wall along the side of the trail. I was huggin it tight nearly wide open when something sent me into it and my tires just grabbed and in an instant I was riding the TOP of the wall. There was really no room up there for a bike, just trees and a ravine, so I dropped back onto the trail. It was like I fell out of the sky right in front of Tim. VERY strange moment to say the least. I really can't believe it didn't go pear shaped on me.
A little slower after that, the rest of the day was uneventful. I'm going to be useless at work tomorrow!
Thanks again Bob for leading today. I'm a little sore I think its from that 3/4 of mile I did on your street bike err I mean adventure bike. Thanks for the test ride. I guess once you get used to it it goes pretty good , I got to hand it to you though its a beast on that tight stuff, more of a bike than I would want to handle for more than I did. I am supprised you got it through all that nasty stuff.
I have some action shots on a disposo camera I'll drop them off tomorrw to get developed.![]()

I too almost had a two-fer, but declined at 2:30am when we got home. Good on you guys.
I don't find woods riding that tiring at all thou compared to MX, but then again, I don't really enjoy charging thru the woods. More like poking along.
Boston --> San Diego
Yep... 2Fer for me too.
Saturday. Relatively slow... but technical meant you had to stay alert.
Sunday. Fast... for me anyway.
Sunday night... everything very tired.
It would be nice to get a larger, easier paced ride together before the end of the season?
So Bob said we were going to take it easy on mark after his day at the MX track, so hey lets go to wrentham instead of pachaug, because pachaug is rocky![]()
The approach
Perhaps with a new rear tire it wouldn't spin so much
OUCH!!!! Lucky the bike didn't land on him
Needless to say we took a little break, But hey, that was the worst of it said bob![]()
Oops, I forgot about this one other hill
Oh yeh and this other one
Sucks to stall in a puddle and almost lay the bike over, I'm not real sure how he managed to keep that 10,000lb bike upright what with its 47gal fuel tank![]()
I ran out of film in my disposo camera, with I had another one the day was full of photo opps.
Here is the album incase I missed any.

Well atleast this way here, if you did get seriously injured ( which thankfully you didn't) I would have pics to show the doctor how it happened![]()

I had the camera ready obviuously, and was down the rock right away getting the bike up so you didn't get soaked in fuel.
In hind sight though I guess there was an easier way around that, but what fun would that have been![]()

I probably would have scanned out a easier route on my way up, but all I saw was Bob pointing at the line he took upOriginally posted by theothersean

and another... better shot of the view
Sean those pics are great and your comments have me laughing so hard I'm almost crying here. I had no idea that you took so many.
That was a lot of fun. I guess my memory of the trails is not the same since Mark made me go to the MX track where let me see I lost a SPLEEN, 5 misplace ribs that went through my lung and a broken collar bone to boot.![]()
Just kidding Mark but that was a blast Sunday. Some of those trails were a little rocky and steep.![]()
