    Heh, Heh...WOOPS!

Accidentally came home today with an '04 Raptor 660. I was entirely tired of beating the piss outta the 'Cat utility quad and've been looking at sporty dogs for mosta the summer. I got the Cat mostly for yard work and plowing & shit, plus the muddy fun. I've had a blast on the trails with it, but I found a big Rappy I felt I couldn't pass up and showed up in my driveway with it this afternoon...

If anyone's interested in some NH fun, I'm hoping to get a day in next weekend. I'd prefer Sunday, but I gotta double-check when the Patriots are playing. I'll be most likely riding the Devils Den area in New Durham. I'm told that NH regi's are a good idea. I could care less either way though. I'm regi'd and I'll stop and cause the diversion...

If I know ya and like ya, you can crash here the night before and/or after, depending on which day we go...

BTW, NEXT weekend's an early game (1:00). Looks like I'll be doing the Saturday thang (the 24th). I'll be tearin' it apart today and givin' it a real good goin' tru...

Jay, be careful on that thing, you could get hurt
The big thumpers have come a long ways...and beleive it or not there is a big difference in power from the 660 to the new 700...though I think it's mostly because of the EFI.

Oh, and the best upgrade ever to the Raptor is a Dr D. reverse relocator. It relocates that reverse knob on the fender to this trick little thumb knob...never have to take your hands off the bars to get reverse

No. It's got the Trinity intake kit too, and some blah-blah-blah kinda carbs. Kinda sucks though: the kid ripped all the packing out THEN got the new carbs and had it jetted for a pretty open exhaust & open airbox. It's STOOPID loud, so I put the Quiet Core & spark arrestor in it and it runs like ass. I'm gonna repack the can and pull the Quiet Core out & see if it's any better. I'm not too keen on running the open airbox either, but I'm less keen on rejetting the carbs on it right now. Over the winter, I'm gonna switch back to the stock intake, quiet the bitch down and jet it appropriately...

the trinity is loud.....must have the FCR carbs on it.....if it does you can sell them for good coin....the stock carbs are a PIA to jet....if you gonna ride mostly woods get a eldebrock single carb, much easier to adjust, lots of grunt down low and mid.

I appreciate the input. But I'm not remotely interested in spending much time and/or money into changing things on it. I bought it to beat on, not wrench...

Sounds like you've been on these things. Sounds like another trip to VT may be in order. Still have it?

He gave me a swingarm skidplate but it's kinda banged up. Plus no hardware. I'm thinkin' I'll order the one Mark suggested...

I'm planning on studding the tires that are on it now and getting a new set come summer next year...

I've tried most all of them and have had the best results with the PRM, just make sure it's the .250 thickness one. Another good tip, which I did on my Rappy, is to drill and re-tap the mounting holes to the next size up bolt.

I'm REALLY looking forward to some ice riding this winter, it's some of the most fun riding I've done

Just be sure to set aside some time to come up to New Hampster...

The skid he gave me is an AC Racing. I think he said it's like, .190 or something. Probably just gonna stick with that for now. Any idea what size/thread the stock mounting bolts were?
