I mentioned it before in one of our weekend reports from Maine, here's your chance to get in on the fun. This is a holiday weekend![]()
This is a camping and dirtriding trip... I could be talked into bringing a streetbike as well as there are some good roads in the area![]()
By camping, I am talking pretty rustic style... "if" you get a shower in the 4 days, you will be lucky... though there is a nice pond less than a mile away. Sean and myself may be working on some sort of portable shower system with limited water, but we'll see how that goes.
I have a small cabin that can sleep 3 or 4 no problem, the regulars have first dibs and after that, it's first come first serve. I'd suggest bringing a tent.
There is a outhouse, so you won't have to hang your ass over a log to drop a deuce... though I can't guarantee you won't get a mosquito bite in a tender area while you're in there![]()
There is a town close by so food, drinks and beer are all less than a 10 minute ride/drive.
Parking may be a little tight depending on who's going and who brings what. I'm going to try and get up there before the trip and make some room in the small field I cleared a few years ago.
As for bikes, a street registration will make your life much easierWhile most of the riding we will be doing are ATV trails, those without street plates will have to drive 15 minutes to a parking area, while the rest of us enjoy riding rite from my driveway to the dirt roads.
If you do not have a street plate, you will need a Maine ATV registration. I have a link posted in the dirty section a few posts down with all the info you need to get this done. Fines are $100-$500 if you get cought with no sticker...and on a holiday weekend the chances are good of being checked. No other ORV/ATV plate is valid in Maine!!
Plan on full, long days of riding and exploring, probably close to or over 100 miles of dirt per day.
And expect long, late nights with lots of drinking and entertainment.![]()
So who is in?![]()
Yamaha
what kind of entertainment? i might be interested for a night or two if someone wants to carpool and split the gas. I'll have to look at the maine registration and if I can get it done getting up there on a holiday weekend.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
We are set for friday - monday.

Cards, word games (they get very funny after 10 beers or so) and of course don't put your helmet away![]()
If you went up on a Friday, you could stop at the town clerks office and register the bike...you'll need proof of prior registration in another state or proof of sales tax paid if you do it in person, online you don't need any of that info![]()
You do realize this is a LRRS race weekend?![]()

Sean, I was at Wally World today and in the camping section they had a portable shower heater that ran on propaine and batteries. There was also a tent like portable shower stall![]()
I picked up 2 heavy duty water canteens that hold 2 quarts each. I'll be adding a gallon of fuel to my range now so another 60 miles is possible

I know the one you speak of its like $90 though.
I think we can get the battery operated pump part for $20, I already have a propane stove and big pot to berl the water in.

Yeah, I think it was about $90-100. I'll go back and open the box to check the contents, it may or may not be worth it.
ghost, you did smell pretty bad.... though I'm not sure it was from not showering![]()

I am planning on getting the $20 shower pump off the interweb at some point. and as I already mentioned I have a propane stove and a big pot to boil water in .
I was at wally world today and got a 7 gal water jug from the camping section. I think it was $8 if everyone that plans to go brings one full of water we will all have enough water for a shower, we can always re fill them when we get up there .
4 days of dirty riding a couple showers would feel real nice![]()

Sean, we can also heat/boil the water over the fire. I'll plan on picking up that portable shower tent, probably be easier than rigging something up.
I'm going to mow the field this weekend and make sure we can get a vehicle or 2 in there. Even if we fill the driveway with vehicles/campers (you know you want to go Bob), we can cut a quick trail to the road to get the bikes in and out![]()

I am in!! Save me some room for my tent.
I have one of them there wata jugs that I'll bring.

Picked up a shower set up today at dick's. only $20
its not the battery pump one though.
Its a 4.5 gal hang from a tree type and came with the shower enclosure we just need to find a tree limb that will hold the weight of 4.5 gal of water. If we leave the water jugs out in the sun all day while riding the water should be warm enough for a shower, if not we can heat some up on the stove to get the right temp.
Now we don't have to put our dirty cloths back on after a shower.

If you say that there is a pond/lake like a 1/2 mile away then who needs a frikin showa?
Either way nice score and we can fill the shower water from the lake no??
I'll still bring my bag with some potable water in her!!!
KB
Yeh we can use the lake water, but we will probably just bring our jugs if we need to refill them up to the town hall and use their outdoor faucet.![]()

I just got back from spending a week up there...I'm sad to say I spent all of 5 minutes the whole week at my property![]()
On a good note, we did so much riding and found so many more trails/roads, we shouldn't have any troubles leaving at 9am and returning at 6pm with over 100 dirt miles a day![]()
Todd and I rode from his grandmothers camp in Abbot to Bingham and we had 6 good hours of riding.
Most of what we will be riding on are marked ATV trails, they are perfect for what we will be doing and there's no real need to explore off of them...at least not for the short time we will be up there that weekend.
There's also a couple secret trails/climbs that will be part of one of our loops.
The pond up the road is fine if people want to use that, there is a small boat ramp/beach at one edge and there's always the small bridge over the road you could jump off of![]()
So lets get a list going of who is in so I can plan accordinglyDo the copy past thingy

There's room for 2 in the loft, you can have it to yourself or share with someone, doesn't matter to me... I've got the first floor and there's only room for me and my bike![]()
