The pants and gloves would be too big, and the helmet too small, but all the other stuff would fit. i'll check it out next time we meet up to ride if that's cool.

Thanks for taking the time to check on what you had. None of that stuff is my size, or at least the sizing I normally wear. While I'm technically a 34 waist, I wear 35-36 cuz, you know I'm from da hood. Same for the shirts, usually an XL but I squeeze into L once in a while. I'm guessing MX gear is sized like normal street clothes?
If its for trail riding then an $80 Walmart Helmet is fine
Now you need real boots, knee stuff you will be crashing alot

Weird. A stromper post I agree with understand.
I bought a Scorpion VX-24 for $90 on closeout. It is a poly helmet and I normally wouldn't touch those with a 10' pole. But for dirty use, I'm okay with it. Helmet is DOT and SNELL rated. I am confident it will keep my noggin' safe. It probably isn't the lightest or flows the most air, but it gets the job done. Works well with every pair of goggles I've thrown at it so far.
It is also sinfully ugly. But I can't see it when I'm riding.
Pads and boots are where I would focus my money. Don't fuck around with cheap pads. I did and have bought armor jackets twice now. The first time I bought a POS EVS suit that is a joke. I did the same with knee pads and am due to replace them. Fortunately I did it right the first time with boots and won't have to rebuy those.
