    The dreaded swaps

Oh, man! I finally had a BIG get off on the dirtbike. Typeone came out yesterday and we hit up my local track. It has seen some rain damage, but was quite rideable. Anyway, beyween my new sand tires, and some nice jetting improvements of late, I found some new speed at my home spot. The bike was just hooking up and generating acceleration even in the heavy sand.

So anyway, I'm scorching this whoop section wide open in 4th gear when my front tire gets sucked into this rain gully that has formed down the middle of this section. I must have looked at it... The bike gets swapping sideways VERY quickly and I know I'm going down. It spit me over the front and I landed on the last whoop on my kidney. Ooof! Knocked the wind outta me and bruised or pulled some muscles in my lower back.

I'm moving slow today and my back is pretty swollen. Hopefully, it's just a heavy charlie horse and no real damage was done. I have planned to do the trackday on Monday!

    Glad you're OK.
I had a few real good rag dolls at Uxbridge before they closed.

I had a similar one at CrowHill a few years back. It was soupy and my front tire got sucked into a rut and spit over the handle bars. I had a perfect bruise that matched my chest protector.

not a good scene to roll up on... no movement and head still on the track hoping you heal up quick!

love those practice tracks, no way to slouch. we gotta clean up the loamy side somehow.. .

    Paul,
I had a few similar get offs at the sand Pits way back in the day on my smokin brand new 1979 Honda XR500R.
That pit has the biggest nastyest whoops I have ever done.
They definatly gave your fore arms a work out.
    Glad your OK.

Lol! Thanks for the reminder. I start seeing these things as normal whoops, which they are NOT! Actually, the section where I binned it is the most regular in terms of whoops, but the rain gully now adds difficulty to the easiest section!

    How are you doing?

Ugh, I think I cracked a rib in that crash. It's been getting worse. Can't sneeze, can't move much in bed, all the classic symptoms.

Cracked ribs suck. There isn't anything you can do about it except just wait until it heals.

    Re: The dreaded swaps

No x-rays. It could be just bruised, or soft tissue between the ribs. There's a black and blue mark that has been sinking down my side. It doesn't much matter as they all hurt about the same! I don't break bones very easily, but that was an incredibly hard hit I took.

    Re: The dreaded swaps

Finally got back out there today. I kept it mellow, well as mellow as you can on a sandy track. Made me realize how nuts I was to ride at that pace. The thing about this track is it's in the trees! Glad I didn't hit one that day.

It was warm today and it felt good to ride dirty again.
