Feeler: New Durham 'Den Trails'

Just tossing it out there to see if there'd be any interest in heading up my way for some dirty riding this coming weekend. I know it's a haul for most, and I'm not even positive yet that *I* can even go - that depends somewhat on what kinda response I get to this...

They've got almost 35 miles of trails out there now with varying terrain. Some WFO old class VI roads; some logging roads; some very technical stuff; some smallish pits to fuck around in. Incredible views from the top of Caverly & Devil's Den mountains though...

We have room at our place and we could most likely put a couple of ya up if need be. I got a map of the area, but Melissa probably knows her way around there better than me - I never pay attention...

You'd be well advised to be regi'd for the area too...

I'm not a big fan of Sunday dirty rides. My body usually needs a full day to recover. That'd make my usual shitty Mondays even more shittierer. Not outta the question, just not my preference...

Power lines near Derry? There's a short stint of powerlines off the Freemont trails, good for about 20 minutes of riding including the ride to them.

Sanborton Trails NH

I've never been to the Sanborton area. But if I remember, a good portion of their trails are for members only. I can't remember how much of it's restricted, but I think the Salmon Brook Trail Riders maintain that area of trails and have info on where the general public can ride...

Decent list of trails & details along with parking directions. These are only registered trails within the NH Trails Bureau though, not every NH OHRV trail...

I'll do some more research into all this - I thought there was a place near derry that had like 11 miles or so of trails.. maybe I'm confused. I think there are powerlines up by Rochester NH as well.

I'll check into some of this and talk to some friends to see where's good.

Rochester's technically closed to wheeled vehicles, all of 'em. It's fairly well monitored too. There's a tiny little stretch along route 11, but it's far from worth it, especially with the NDVATV (Devil's Den) area is just up the road...

I've also heard the Derry/Freemont/Auburn stretch is heavily patrolled by radar wielding officials...

I think Derry is the rail trail and sucks.. just a straight shot and not too technical

I'll know for sure which day I can get out by the end of the day tomorrow (Thurs)...

Worse case is I bring the 'Cat & strap down my chainsaw (and rifle, just in case). Hit the property, drop some trees, lock the chainsaw & rifle back in the truck (load up my buck) and hit summa trails around the property. Ain't all that much around there, but enough to spend a coupla hours...
