I have ridden several Gas-gas's, although not any of the recent ones. All of my rides were on 2002 and older machines. I have ridden 250's and 200's - and both models had extremely smooth, trials-like motors. They both had noticeably less vibration than my CR250 and my KDX200's. The Gas-gas motors were smooth, torquey, and a bit slow-revving - kind of like a modified trials bike motor. I liked them - a lot - for the tight, nasty trails one encounters in New England. The rest of the bikes - the frames, brakes, controls, and suspension were all fine, but nothing was noticeably different or better than typical Japanese stuff. They do use quality components, though, and serviceability (plug, filter access, etc.) looked to be better thought out and engineered than on like era KTM's. The Gas-gas's were really nice, and the one thing that has kept me from buying one is - Aftermarket support. Much like same period Husky's, there is not much, if any at all, for things like graphics, seat covers, and replacement plastic. Sure, there are "Specialists", like Hall's, but it is not the same as opening up any catalog or website and picking from several different options.
If I were in the market for another trail bike, I would look hard at this one, although I prefer 200's.
someone should grab that thing asap! excellent woods machine.
