Help Me Find...

Short story: acquired a basket case Baja Motorsports Baja DR70 dirtbike over the winter for the boy. Got it all sorted and up & running, and all is well...kind of. The search is on now for a 14" wheel for it (drum brake). When we first got it, we found a few sites where they were readily available. $50 for the entire assembly (wheel, hub, tire, etc). All we can seem to find now is 10 & 12" wheels. Serves us right I guess, for waiting...

Anybody have any go to sites for this sort of thing?

The bike was originally purchased at our local Tractor Supply, but they've been zero help...

I have a set of 12's I think with dirty tires on them off my SSR that you can try also...... I went to street tires. I would sell them for cheap and 14's are much of a big deal for a 70... my 70 has 10's on it and is just fine.

The rub with "CRF" wheels is the $200+ price tag. And I'm *almost* certain the axles on the Baja are smaller diameter, but I'll know for certain tonight. But I may take you up on checking out those 12's, although it was sold new with 14" front...

Maybe meet at Olympus for a couple pops some night this week?

Like I said, when we first got it, it seemed to be so readily available we just figured we'd wait 'til spring. I even have a couple screen shots on my phone so we'd remember which sites we found it on. Now, nothing. Zip, no dice. Odd...

Yea....thats what happens with the kncok off's... SSR, Piranah and coolster have a good amout of parts availble for them still and helps.

Trying to find a 14" drum that isn't OEM Honda is proving to be a PITA. Is the wheel completely trash or can it be repaired with parts?

Edit: SSR, Pitster, etc are also knock offs, FYI.

Correct, there was a few sites that sold the entire wheel assembly, tire included. They weren't Baja specific, but they were direct fits. I have the owner's manual and a resemblance of a repair manual - if you can call it that...

The wheel is pretty trashed. The original owner's son rode this way too late in his life...

I'm familiar with the other knock-offs. I can't seem to find ANY 14" wheel assemblies for reasonable coin anymore. As I pointed out, they WERE available over the winter. I have screen shots showing in stock and $50. Just don't seem available anywhere at the moment...

Scooter front wheel assembly? No problem, cheap. 14" with disc brake set-up? Easy, cheap enough. 10" dirt bike wheel assembly? Sure, low coin. 14" dirt bike wheel for drums? Not so fast, mister...

If it's gonna cost more than $100, I'll just burn the thing...

My normal go to is tboltusa.com, I've known Vince for years. He doesn't have anything listed but it might be worth giving him a call to see if they can source something for you. I don't see any brands of pitbike shipping a 14" drum front equipped bike any more which might explain the lack of cheap replacements.

Yeah, I've found a couple sources for disc fronts for less than $100. I've got a couple places I'm gonna be calling this week. Thanks man...

That's a disc front wheel. I know the hub looks drum-ish, but the four bolt holes give it away.

I did not! That looks like it may fit the bill, just gotta see what size axle - 10mm or 12mm. About twice what I was hoping for price-wise, and doesn't come with tire & tube. But definitely worth a look!

Yeah...got it ordered up along with a front fender. Two days later, money was refunded for everything. Parts discontinued/unavailable. Would've been nice to not let it get that far, but whatever...

Ended up finding it on another site, but it was listed for the DR50 oddly enough seeing as the 50 runs 10" front & rear. They said it was in stock and will be in my hands by Monday, May 1. We shall see however...
