thought you might like that .
Originally it was to be able to get the mini through all the snow to the track as we had a hard time last time we were up , but now there isn't so much snow , but still easier to get out to the lake .

sean: I remember you saying something about a run-in w' the ELE about the rules. Do you know if, so long as we're yellow plated, if we can run on any public pond or lake?
not sure about any lake or pond, If you have doubt, enter at teh publis boat ramp if there is one, if they don;t want you on the lake or pond they would likely put up sinage, there is a lake by me that has rule posted for all winter activities including speed limits and what is prohibited etc.
but the key will be having proper registration , yellow plate or street reg .

Holy crap, was that ice SMOOOOTH! Even with the 1200 screws it was a struggle to get decent traction. I'm gonna go over the rear tires and fill in all the 'gaps' now, probably add a coupla hundred more. The entire lake is like a fargin' skating rink right now...
The track actually held up really well. The banks around the track were still about 6" high, so it's still really well defined. Unless we get a few inches of snow, non-studded fun just ain't happenin'. Even the 4x4 quads were useless out there this weekend...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
That was a lot of fun yesterday. I am hoping to make it out to a local lake today and try adjusting the screw heads on the pit bike and see if it helps that thing at all. I was very impressed with the way the YZ was working. I think I will just try a couple of small adjustments on that.
How long were you guys out there yesterday. I wound up in the area and took a drive by around 4ish and saw the track but nobody out there riding.

The girlfriend wanted to go for a ride someplace so I just wound up driving around on roads I would take on the bike if it was nice out, random rights and lefts etc., saw a sign that said Ctr. Barnstead and figured I would head that way knowing people might be out on the ice. A few steps later (not going to draw a map to your lake/house here) I was looking at the lake with the road course wondering where everyone was. Continued on our ride and grabbed dinner then headed home. Glad you guys had a fun day out there, I might just have to get one of the dirty toys studded up for ice fun. Couple of lakes around me are frozen and rideable too.

What I've found works well is to start with an OEM pair of CRF70 knobbies. You know, the ones everyone promptly tosses aside 'cause the knobs are too close together and don't work worth a damn in dirt?
Turns out you can put a metric pants load of screws into them, usually at least 3 per knob. They will bite like you wouldn't believe on glare ice.
I am using the stock LXR tires right now. I think the spacing might be a little far a part but I am going to try and mess around with the direction of the head of the screw and see if I can make them better. I don't really know what is the right angles are yet but since I have these already set up I will mess with them a little more.
Musta been ovah theyah on Varney then. That's the only road you can see it from. You were so close to catching us, I bet if you headed over to the house everyone woulda still been loading up. I bailed at like, 2:30 or so - I'd had enough. I was one hurtin' pup Sunday (no, really!). Everyone else headed back about an hour or so later...

Was on Varney (south side) for a short time then on the other side (north side) of the lake from where the small ice oval is on my left went down the road heading towards 28 (guessing West) and took a left onto a non paved sanded all to hell road, houses on this road are waterfront and saw what I thought to be the road course on the left in the inlet. This the right place?
Don't know where your house is or I may have wandered by.
Joel
Hmmmm...almost sounds like you were on my road, but you woulda seen us at the house for sure. And I'm not sure you could see the track from my road unless you were in someone's backyard. I'm guessing you were only a road off though. But I'm still not sure you'd have a clear view to the track from that road. Either way, you passed within a coupla hundred feet of my house, ya wing nut, ya!

The YZ is out for this weekend. I broke the kick start shaft againWon't have the new parts in time for this weekend. After that happened yesterday I was so pissed I didn't even try to mess around with the pit bike.
I did find some pictures for stud patterns for the tires and my pattern is way off. I am going to adjust the ones on the pit bike this week and give it another shot.![]()
How are you breaking kickstart shafts?!
There seems to be a problem with the 02 and on shafts. That is when they went to a hollow shaft. It keeps breaking where they drill the hole into the shaft for the return spring. They have updated the shaft, but the one that I just broke is the updated one. This time it also took out the case cover. I read that people are putting the 01 shaft and case cover on instead since that is a solid shaft. That is what I am going to do.
