Figured working in a boarding school with 400 kids living in close proximity would of built me up over the last 10 years. Babies, wtf.

I am not the poster child for doing it good.

Carb rebuilt!
The industrial grade Ultrasonic cleaner my dad has had for decades worked absolutely mint. Half gallon of hot water, bit splash of the Simple Green. Within 3 seconds of turning it on, the thing was making currents of deposits.
Swapped over to the stock jetting for 60 degrees +. Fired her up, runs well. Waiting for the 3 TwinAir filters I cleaned out to dry, then will re-oil and pop one back in.
So aside from possibly swapping springs if I ever meet up with Bubs, this thing is pretty much ready to ride. Hoping to cut a stupid little practice trail around the property this week.

Stupid trails are the best trails. I have the best stupid trails. Nobody has stupider trails than me...

Just picked up a 2009 KLX250s for a little around town toy. No power but that was expected, actually hit 82mph yesterday (all stock) only thing I may do is a FMF Q4 pipe and Pro Taper bars. Bought it with new tires, chain and battery so that's a start. Also has the Moose rack on the back but may try to sell it

Re: I'm dumb. Y'all know it. So make me be less dumb. KDX? CRF? KTM?
At this point, I'm really tiring of trying to sell this thing. Internet shoppers are the worst. Yeah buddy, I'm not going to talk myself down on asking price before you even some see the fucking thing.
ONE person has come to look at it. ONE.
At this point, the likelyhood of me keeping it is rising.
So what would it take to put a lights/signals/etc on this pig so I can plate it enough to get me from trail to trail?
Sicass kit is a custom build jobby (per their customer support email) is $604.95. Gulp.

Re: I'm dumb. Y'all know it. So make me be less dumb. KDX? CRF? KTM?
Mines a mashup of OE parts, mostly from the 250/300 I think.
Does yours have any of the electrical harness? Regulator? PO did most of mine, so I don't know what the bike actually came with vs not.
Mine does not have a rectifier, only a regulator. System is 12VAC. I have a Sicaas horn kit with a 7.2V battery under the seat for the horn.
Wait, you need blinkers too, don't you? I get away without those over here in freedom land.
They did make me install a chain guard though.

Re: I'm dumb. Y'all know it. So make me be less dumb. KDX? CRF? KTM?
I just run a headlight and tail/brake light.
This doesn’t really earn me a sticker.
Your stock electrical system should support that noprob.

XC doesn't have the same wiring/stator that the XC-W has. I'm even LESS prepared for illumination than yours.

Then you're fucked. Sell it. I'll give you $100, mostly 'cause we're friends.
My XC-W did not come with any lights from the factory. Are you sure the stator is different?

According to the Parts Fiche at 2009 KTM 200 XC (US) Ignition System | KTM Parts Pro and 2009 KTM 200 XC-W (US) Ignition System | KTM Parts Pro The XC and XC-W have the same stator and wiring harness. (Of course I'm going from parts fiche only. I have no experience with them).

Re: I'm dumb. Y'all know it. So make me be less dumb. KDX? CRF? KTM?
Ken sold his 450 to some kid in DC. I expect it's doing dank wheelies by now.
You want to keep this thing anyway. Whatever it costs to get lights on it is worth it.
This weekend I was re-packing my box o' spares and reminded of two things:
1) I still have all those springs. We need to cross paths someday
2) My XC-W as effectively converted to an XC. It has 125 (or is it 150?) gearing for 1st and 6th. I often wonder if I wouldn't be happier with the -W for my use. I need to put a 51t pizza on the back wheel to not suck chunks doing hill climbs. 2nd is my go-to gear now, but I still need 1st now and then for when I fuck up and need to get going again. A lower 1st would not hurt my feelings. And I hate riding this thing on the street as I find 40-45 the edge of what I can stand. I did get it to say 60 briefly, but the motor was screaming 'no me gusta' the entire time
Not that a taller 6th would do anything about how sketchy knobbies are on pavement.

Re: I'm dumb. Y'all know it. So make me be less dumb. KDX? CRF? KTM?
You just can’t have it all. I ran 2-strokes for years before discovering that the new lighter weight 4-strokes are the closest you can get to being decent at doing it all.

But they leave neat looking tiger stripes on the pavement when you slide them!

To get this thing streetable:
Trail Tech Striker Odometer/Speedo : $120
Sicass lighting kit: $605 (+ shipping)
Mirror: $30 (approx)
Universal Plate mount: $15
So I'm at around $800 in parts to get this thing on the road, nevermind going the VT route and getting it reg'd.
