    Testing the helmet cam..

4-5" of snow last night and nothing to do today so I set up my helmet cam.
Some zip ties and tape and I was ready to go!

It took a few test runs to get the angle squared away, but at least I got in some riding. I forgot just how rough my trails are on a quad, not to mention the snow and frozen ground. One minor run in with a tree and a failed attempt at a donut And this is just one section of the "easy" stuff

camera looks pretty good: the action shot recording is smooth, quality is clear, the shake isn't bad, and the sound isn't overly windy/distorted...actually the quad sounds pretty f'in mean

nice little track too...these vids are definitely helping us get through the winter...keep them coming

but uh...are you holding it on with zip ties and tape?

The quad is very mean, always been amazed at how well runs and responds.
I did take it for a ride up the road in one of the camera tests and wind noise does get louder, but not annoying.

The "track" is the easy section of my trails, about 1 1/4 miles. Though still very rough riding a quad in them. I'm looking forward to getting a full loop vid in the spring on the bike.

Yes, it's on with zip ties and tape for now. Wait, there's even a strand of safety wire too

    Mark,

I see the way you have that secured to your visor. Would something like what is pictured below help you?

I know the image is small but it's a velcro strap that loops around something and attaches to itself thru the plastic eyelet.

I'm not sure they would work good in this case, though they look handy to have.
The zip ties really get it tight, plus they are fastened to the side mounts and the slots are very narrow. I can't strap it around the camera itself because of the record slide on the top. I have mounts on order, just waiting for them to come in.

If you're interested, I have an endless stock of them. Not sure where you're going for b-fast on Saturday but feel free to swing by the house on your way to Stonebone's.

Have a little trouble with some trees around the 4:30 mark.....................

Are your trails laid out so they are one way or do you sometimes wind up traveling the same part of a trail in both directions? I noticed some of the trails looked like you might be going the opposite way on a trail that you had already been on and it made me curious.

Actually hit a wood pile first which put me into the tree

I ride them in both directions, tho one way is more fun than the other IMO. I have them set up so it's like a loop. So in theory if I had a bunch of people over, you could go around the loop and never cross paths with others..if knowone cuts the trail. They are cut close though which you can see in the vid

Cool, I was just curious about the direction thing because it would suck to be out for an after work rip around the yard and have one of your neighbors tear assing the opposite direction on the same trail. I guess I've just gotten used to the one way trails up at Hop/Ev/Clough.

I still need to make the trek down to ride with you guys, hopefully next year I will have a vehicle worthy of Pisgah with street plate and all.
