^^ this is what I've also observed
can't tell you how many guys I meet in the desert that "bought one for the family"...they all ride in it once, then he comes out with us the rest of the time
they're growing on me...I wouldn't own one because it's $20k, can't be made street legal in CA, and nearest trail is 2 hours away...but maybe someday when I've hurt enough of my body on a dirt bike and I have money

Guy near me is selling one of these.
Asking way too much though....7000.
when we went out to AZ they were everywhere on the streets. especially out in farm areas.
could be fun with the right place to drive one

Once a year the family goes up the Rangeley, ME and we rent a bunch of em' they're a blast and comfortable as hell to ride in all day. No where to ride them down here though.
On vacation in Mexico we got a chance to drive a race-prepped ATV. They aren't that powerful but the suspension was absolutely amazing.

I wished I had enough time/$$ throughout highschool/college to explore ME in dirt....seems like the NE gem of off-roading!
I always felt like ME was really far from MA...but now I drive 1-1/2 to 2 hours at a minimum to get to the desert...

It's true. There's an 8 mile loop about 15 minutes from my house that's open to SXS, dirtbikes, wheelers, horses, snowmobiles, mtn bikers and walkers. There are tons of other trails in the area too, and no shortage of private MX tracks to ride if you know somebody who knows somebody...go north and you can put on serious miles.
The ATV clubs have done a really good job up here with fostering land owner relationships, education, and trail maintenance. It's pretty cool to ride down Main Street in Greenville to park downtown and grab lunch..
