just bought a new toy and it needs some hand guards. its got some on it now but i think they are some cheap ones. they have no metal inserts in them and seems like they would rotate in a fall. im looking for something with more protection like a bark buster. im looking through the catalog at work and there are a bunch of different ones, so im looking for some experience. i dont want so spend a shit load on them but i dont want them to fall apart either. suggestions/experience?
i will also probably be looking into some different mirrors that mount maybe on the bar behind the handguards or something. any suggestions on that?
the guy i bought the bike off of recently put on a rear Avon Distanzia. the front doesnt match, but probably needs replacing anyway. im thinking of just matching the front with rear and run it. anyone run these tires on the street? how do they hold up and how well do they grip? am i going to be able to ride "spiritedly" on them without ending up on my head?

Usually when referring to offroad racing products, good and cheap while still providing excellent function points directly to moose. I would look at the moose busters. The moose ones have always done me well as well as others that I raced with. Acerbis are also good, but will cost you some more $$.

There pretty good, had them on my 690sm last year, got a little under 6k out of them(back BALD, front still looks decent). Don't know about dragging knees with 'em, but they stick plenty good for spirited road riding, certain cornering situations it kinda felt like you could feel the gaps in the tread but nothing scary. I personally didn't find them much better on dirt roads than regular street tires, but that could just be metrying out the Conti SM tires next.
ya, acerbis has about eleventy billion different ones. i do get a good discount at work. i was just looking at the moose contours though
i guess we will find out. its the cheaper option really. its either match the front or buy 2 new tires of choice

Yeah I'd go with the moose. Best bang for the buck.

Cycra would be my go to. I have looked at a lot of them over the years and the others just seem inferior to me.
If a pure dirt bike I like my enduro engineering bars which are very similar to the Moose bars.
This could turn into an oil type question. Pick a set that are solid and YOU like the way they look when installed. All other items are just opinion.

Wear brass knuckles when you ride.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
i know. what i was really looking for experience, like "my moose one fell apart after a year" or "they seem indestructible". whats funny is i can get handguards directly from KTM for $54 and they appear to have an aluminum bar through them. im going to have to get a better look at whats on there. really leaning towards the moose contours

Cycra is the industry standard-nice stuff.
Moose, enduro engineering, and a few others are exactly the same rebadged ee guards.
Get the cheapest ones that look good to you. And use some blue loctite.

I had moose ones on the RM...pretty solid stuff
I also got enduro engineering ones for ~$20...and they did just as well...
That's because they're the same product, homie.

Ok, while we're on the topic... I've heard some people say they aren't a good thing as they can trap your hands?

I have tested this theory (OTB) numerous times with never a broken wrist.
Also as a youngster I got in a head on in the woods whipping 'round a corner and rode out with a boxers fracture, as opposed to a shattered hand I'd likely have got without them. (a broken ankle in that crash and a mangled front end too, for street cred)
Edit: yeah, what'd you buy dipshit?
