So maybe a mini report now that I am home.
The track we were supposed to go to ended up being closed so there was a small change in plans. It's really not much of an issue there as there seems to be a MX track every 50-75Km away from each other.
Obviously being 5,000 miles from home, I was on a borrowed bike, an 05 Yamaha YZ250.
We arrive at the track and not a single person is there..I'm thinking shit, it's closed? No, it's open and to pay, you just leave your name and address in the box and they mail you a bill? I had to laugh a bit as they weren't surprised when I said that system wouldn't work here in the USA. The owner ended up showing up after a few sessions and we just paid her there...10 euro for the day each.
I think we rode 6 or 7 sessions. The surface was firm because it had just rained, but in dry it would be very soft and sandy. I started out slow and ended slow..haha. Actually it wasn't that bad in there was improvement and even got some air. One of the hardest things for me was to stay on the throttle once a wheel got in a rut. In the woods that will often land you in a tree, but there's plenty of room to dance around on the track..haha
Tracks are very safe and beginner friendly, and there's no doubles or triples because of some law in place for track owners. Table top jumps, whoops and burms is what they can use.
What?
Also rode some Enduro trails while there. I thought my trails were challenging...they are like riding on glue compaired to where we were. I've never set a wheel on such a slick surface! if you can imagine wet conditions, trees with all surface roots, a thin layer of wet peat covering everything..and if you saw water or what looked like mud, be prepaired lose your bike.
I've read in magazines that some of the best Enduro riders in the world come from Finland and always wondered why as the country is pretty much flat! One trip in the woods and you'll quickly know why..haha
I took this picture when we got back from some trail riding...it was 1:30am when this picture was taken
