Correct. Book says 0.7L. But I just fill until it dribbles out the check hole. Let it sit for a minute, then tighten everything up.
I could be doing it wrong though.
In 2009, the KTM300 instructions say to add .7 liters of oil. With the bike upright, it should 'just barely escape from the inspection opening.' Based on what I've seen from KTMTalk, most advise against ever touching that bolt.
One of these days, after I've won the lottery I'll pick up a Slaven's billet clutch cover with a sight glass.
Edit: Colin beat me to the punch.
yeah, i saw that people claim that those get stripped out. mine was in perfect shape. you also answered my next question of upright or on the kickstand.
super excited to be sore as fuck on monday![]()

Ran into a bunch of you dirty clowns Saturday around our 'hood. Talked with a a few dirty bastards at the Blueberry Station gas station in Barnstead. Gave a few confused souls directions when they pulled into the thrift shop parking lot in Alton. If any of you saw a little dude with his KTM shirt on in the back of a pick-up truck in the parking lot of that thrift shop on route 28 in Alton giving you all the thumbs up and waving, that was my boy!
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
One of these assholes roosted my driveway on Sunday but not before they scribbled a note in the sand.
The note said "Oxx was here".

Great event. Routes were all pretty well signed. Came in to it expecting a lot of time on maintained dirt roads, was pleasantly surprised at how much time we got on more challenging surfaces. Hero section before both day's lunches was a real workout. And I think I went nearly airbox-deep in a water crossing. I saw water come over the front fender and thought I was going swimming.

Bike is all together. Just need to fire it up and top off the coolant.
Heat cycles. Do it good.

Interestingly, Slaven says f&@! heat cycling. I did his 'break in' suggestion on the motard, mostly due to lack of time. We'll see how it holds up over time.
Still in for both days...what kind of trails are these? a mix of everything like the Ammo run or what?
Just curious because Ive heard its pretty easy double track/ATV trails...and then I heard theres a lot of gnarly trials-like stuff.
New bike. Rusty. Want to know what to expect haha.

We've seen them out & about marking the routes. Also saw a handful of dirty riders Sunday here & there presumably checking out said routes...
One of the routes essentially went right by our house for a couple of years. They obviously changed it up a bit because we haven't seen them that close for a while now. The boy is bummed about that...

That climb is part of that route I haven't done. The year I did it we had a mechanical and had to skip that part.
I need to clone myself and figure out how to get everything in my world done and still make events like this..
Is that the bit which streaks up and down the moutain like some backwards switchback? Mountain view at the top with a small hunting camp? If so, I dunno if I'm running 4th but ton of fun. If I remember right, there's some flat switchbacks at the bottom of that mountain section too that are great.
Just skip the hero sections if you aren't feeling confident. Well, maybe try the first or second one while you're not worn out yet
My memory of these events all blurs together but they're all a mix of single track sections joined together by class 6 double-track type sections and dirt roads, with the occasional street bit. The real difficult stuff is marked (hero) with alternate route around. They aren't typically crazy pro-level stuff, it's just more challenging riding. I have seen maybe two sections that were pretty nuts, and I don't think either were on this event. One was a hill-climb that was easy to backtrack out of. The other was trials-ish and it was obvious at the entrance. There's been a few I didn't even realize were the hero sections. I'd say this event is of overall similar caliber to the Ammo event, maybe with a little more Class 6/quad road stuff. The morning pre-flight peptalk might reveal which hero sections are more challenging and I bet you can ask around to get some tips from those working the event.
I believe last year an older guy rode the whole thing on a DR650 if that helps set expectations.

I don't remember a hunting camp, but I remember blitzing by a scenic overlook where there were a bunch of people stopped. I actually regret not stopping, but I was fucking cranking and missed it, and would've had to turn around. I knew I didn't want to be going against the grain on that trail/in that section.
