Hey guys,
Getting the dirt bike ready for the season, and its time for a new set of tires. I picked up my 02 yz250 last year, for real cheap, and I rode it a ton over the season.
I've had a quad for awhile, and I know for those for an affordable all around tire you run holeshots or razrs pretty are the norm (I have 6 ply razrs cause I'm a trail guy)
Now, is there a tire like that for dirtbikes?
On there right now are Dunlop D739, 110-90-19 and 80-100-21
I like the tires, but its the only set I've ridden. I would have no problems getting the same set again. Same sizes?
Price isn't a HUGE concern, but I'm just a regular trail rider, I don't need the best motocross tire, or even the best trail tire.
Let me know guys, thanks.

before KB opens or closes talks, do you often ride mud or very soft terrain?
Nice looking ride!
Mud happens, I don't go looking for it, but it happens.
Currently, I ride a lot of trails out of my backyard, hard pack mostly, but lots of leaves in the fall, lots of water/mud when its wet (right now) and a lottttt of rocky hills. They're powerlines.
This year I do plan on riding a lot of legal trails throughout NH, haven't been on them before besides Rockingham years ago on my quad (which I won't be going back to if its even still open), so I don't know what to expect from those. I'll probably tag along on NESR rides (that don't require a street plate, just a NH reg) to get shown around on them.

Get the biggest cheapest knobs that will fit. That's my honest and non-sarcastic recommendation.

Motosport.com or Motorcyclesuperstore - usually have internet sales that get down pretty low - reviews will usually tell you whats best for the terrain you are in.
ya if you just want a new tire for fun trail riding I would get whatever is a decent tire for a good price. I only rode woods once last year on a beat dunlop 756 and that even did ok. Enjoy the yz
ps- Yes I would stay with those same sizes, don't go with the skinnier rear (100) which is for 125s/250f stock.

I suggest a Kenda K-760 Trackmaster II for the rear. They are inexpensive, hook up well on a variety of terrain, and last a long time. I do not like the fronts, though.
Many folks like the Maxxis IT and claim extremely long life from them.
Dunlop also offers a recreational knob, the D-952, with long life claimed.
I usually run a Pirelli MT-16 up front. It works/lasts well and is a DOT tire, which is important to me.
So what do you think?

60.99 for Dunlop D952

I'm liking the tread pattern of the Maxxis IT the most

I've seen several Dunlop sales for a set of front and rear D-756 for $100.
The D-739 like on your bike now wears like iron, tho i never liked the feel of the fronts, and the rear doesn't self clean all that fast in mud. I like the 756 on my YZ and WR, IMO it's a great intermediate tire. Hooks up good on hardpack, hooks up good in soft stuff, and it self cleans from mud very well. The wear is ok and I think is about equal to other brands.

sweet...I haven't tried many, or any tires, but from what I've read, a lot of people recommend that Maxxis IT for hook up and longevity
I'll take the trade off on the superior root and rock traction for soo so mud performance.
I guess I should have asked what the terrain was. I ride New Hapshire 90% roots and rocks so the trials tire for me is the balls.
