MX207 is barely an hour away. Even closer for Roland.
Highlight of my weekend: Chasing down Josh in the first Never Ever moto (aka, the rookie race) and passing him exiting the last corner before the checkered, inadvertently blocking him as I wandered a bit towards his line, as I struggled to just keep the damn bike on the track. F'n awesome to not finis last in most of my races! Great battles with Jeff as well!

I have to admit, I've never considered or even heard of using a different front tire designed for more float at Southwick. Love to try it
rode Crow Hill a few weeks back, that was the first experience in sand with this tire. it's only a very short section in back, two corners and sort of a sweeper but i instantly felt a difference up front. riding the sand sections at NHMX felt just a great, it tracked real well and didn't dig in at all. rode more on top of the sand. guess if you're a real sand carver already it might not feel as good but hard to say without trying it out.
in general i'm loving this tire for all sorts of terrain, especially rocks.
Beta 200RR
Had an absolute blast up there, especially on Friday when the track was minty!
It was a hoot hanging with you all, chasing a few of you and learning to jump and rip some berms.
All fun and games till dude-guy face planted directly in front of my front tire. That kinda sucked the wind outta my weekend a bit for sure. I'm not a fan of riding over people.
With any luck I'll be back next year, either with some stiffer springs in the Beta or something more... MX-ey.
F*CKIN P-B-AHHHHHH KID!!
Yeah, that sucked.
Oh yeah, Smutty with the pit board was another piece of the awesomeness puzzle!

"Hugs not drugs!"
Plus the guys just after trying to hand me PBR's in Headlight 2, that was different.
I wish I'd noticed the beers being handed. I'd have tried to go for it. Awkward tho as they were on my throttle hand side. Truth told I had all I could do to keep that DRZ in line with both hands. But like I said earlier; go big, right?!
lol, I'm pretty sure the "that sucked" was in reference to me running dude guy over. Unfortunately he received 6 broken ribs and a collapsed lungs for having the GALL to crash in front of me. Or as his kid / nephew said, "karma's a bitch, he shouldn't have asked you to move your generator!"
Their good humor helped immensely. I still feel like I shot someone's kitten![]()
Yeah it ended my day Sat, I stayed w/ him for a couple laps till EMT arrived then picked my bike up and finished the Moto. I skipped my last of the day, both as a result of that plus being super tired and overheated. I honestly can't remember ever hitting or running over anyone before, I think I've hit bikes road racing but never a rider. The feeling of helplessness as he was pitched violently off his bike to the right (I had started moving toward the center of the track to avoid him, as he'd gotten the front and rear tires in two different ruts) landing directly in-front of me was not enjoyable. I just wish I'd had the wherewithal to feather the clutch and pull a small wheelie in time.
Yes. My comment was in reaction to that.
I don't know what to think. Shit happens. We all know it going in. And if we don't we're dumb for not. Confident that nothing could have been done differently.
Still, yeah. Shot kittens.
We had a lengthy discussion about how dangerous motocross seems to be vs road racing. Bottom line is life is a giant risk. Could get T-boned waiting to get on the highway driving to work. Or slip in the shower and bonk yer noggin. At least motocross and road racing are fun.
Damn, that's a bummer that the injuries were that severe. He seemed like a nice enough guy chatting with me watching the start of a couple of races (didn't ask me to move a generator though).
Like others have said, it can happen and anyone getting on the track should know the risks before heading out there. Racing incident as far as I'm concerned. Sucks that it happened but nothing you could have done to avoid it.
that is a bummer to hear, was hoping it wouldn't end up that bad after Scottie told me about it. sucks.

As someone who has run someone over on the track before I totally hear where you are coming from. I also went back over the incident and wondered what would have happened if i got on the gas to take weight off of the front instead of being on the brakes trying to slow down.
In the end you really can't do anything about it. Shit happens and you just have to think that it could have been worse.
