Stimilon Motocross Challenge 2012 - May 25 - 27

To help rouse you up, I'm having my tape of Paul, Kurl-owned, Big Squirrel, and myself converted from [cassette -> computer] as we speak

Once you see the debauchery that was our riding (minus Paul'D), you'll feel more comfortable..we're all amusingly slow. And for me: I hadn't ridden my bike for about 9 months prior to Stimilon due to an outrageous restoration/repair process. I got it fixed by May 15th, and ran Stimilon on May 28th. I even showed up late, missed the practice, and hit the track for the first time for my first heat. Kurlon and I both stalled our bikes when the gate dropped, and we both still had a blast...do it man!!!

You too Chipperoo...you've been riding longer than most of the riders there have owned a bike...just go ride some MX and get it over with already!

Heck, I might as well call all of you out: R7...it's time to try it in the states. And othersean, got an MX bike? check. You're 95% ready for Stimilon (last 5% = beer and gas).

Riding a 125 2 smoke at southwick is one if the most difficult, demoralizing things I've ever done. Top 10 on the fun scale too. I'm in, just gotta fix my 125 2 smoke. Giggity.

Dude, I launched in the women's wave, and got my ass handed to me by them. I stalled at the gate, I dropped my bike in a turn and had to have someone else fire it push it out for me I was so tired. 6 and Kid had too much fun with the slip and slide into the pool. Did I mention the slip and slide into a pool?

yeah, the track is more old school, outdoor style with elevation changes and deep sand rather than jumpy, hard pack.

it's all about momentum and flow. demanding but crazy fun for any skill level.

waaaay too many? Hell, I've only missed what, 2? Anyway, fair point - I've missed the last 2. Weak. And to be honest I haven't ridden much at all since the last time I did this, which was the only time. Totally unacceptable. I'll show up this year. I should probably even try to ride the dirt bike between now and then.

this race is for beginners, of all beginners trying to finish the race!

iglu: as long as it's a full size dirt bike, the suspension is adequate!

smut: tires don't matter...as long as it's not flat! I ran a michelin star cross that was old and starting to crack:

So magical. My 125 was a wheelie machine in the sand with those tires. Sometimes even without me on it!

I was on a Kenda Trackmaster 2 in back. If that will work I think anything will. That said I'd love to try a set of paddles to see how much faster I could scare myself.

Oh, and like ice racing, more throttle/speed == better time. Trying to plod around that track is a killer workout.

You have had NOS on your bike?

And what do you run for a front with that rear to avoid the front pushing as much?

MXS rear matches well with the MXMS front if you want something you can leave on after and run anywhere.
