Well, I finally did it...
I decimated my bank account and ordered some tardy wheels and a set of Pilot Powers for the KTM.
I'm headed to Penguin on the 31st and I just couldn't bring 1000CC's of Gixxah foolishness to NHIS. It would have been stupid. So it looks like the Katoom is officially a track bike now.
Awesome!
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
thats sweet man, that'll be a lot more fun than the gix on the track haha
So you gonna get a street plate for that bad Nelly? Tard riding on the streets is pretty damned fun...especially on dirt roads![]()

Yeah, that's kind of what I figured. It all depends on what I think I'll be doing with it. It may just stay as a track/dirty toy, but I may upgrade the tranny regardless... I have (had?) a parts list somewhere. I think it came to around $300 or so the last time I looked at the online fiche. Gotta split the cases, so that'll be a winter project.
Oh, I know what I wanted to ask you... did you go with a cush-drive rear hub? I couldn't get one in time, so I didn't, but I'm not sure that was the right choice. I may want to swap the hub out over the winter and rebuild the rear if a non-cush hub is a bad idea.
I had the dealer add 5th and 6th to my 450sx, it came to $700 parts and labor...I think the parts were in the 350-400 range at the time.
Some say you need a cush drive, some say no. I say don't bother, I've never had a issue with mine 525 and I gots well over 5k street miles on it and another 2k dirt miles. Never had a problem with my 450sx either![]()

Awesome... thanks, Mark.
I'm actually looking at ordering the six speed parts now... I have the motor out and am going to try to do that this weekend if I can get the parts overnighted. It's about $300 in tranny parts and gaskets not including a cam chain breaker/riveter and a flywheel puller. I'll need to buy those too.
Ah, this has turned out to be a slippery slope...
