That's very nice & looks like a sweet deal... but not street legal & outta my budget.
If I can find something I can buy & get on the road for closer to 2g's w/o jumping through hoops and doing circus tricks I'll be happy.

Lot out there for $2g's, street legal. Will it be a lightweight fast woods rocket? No, but it will do everything plenty to your liking.
I personally know of two solid DRZ400's that sold for $1800 or less in ready to ride on/off condition in the last 6 months.
I'd avoid the KTM's, stick to the DRZ's or DR350's and the like.
Mass plating for dirtbike
Plating a dirt bike in Mass is easy as long as you have the original cert. of origin and can prove that any previous owners (if any) have paid their sales tax. You cannot get it done otherwise.
Next step is to install all necessary equipment and have the bike inspected at any Mass Inspection station. They will need to type up a statement (on company letterhead) that the bike now meets all Mass road requirements (include the bike's VIN, make, model, etc). Take all this to your insurance company and have them fill out the RMV-1 form (just like any other motorcycle) and get insurance. Take all that and go to the RMV and get your plate. They may say "no way" after seeing the "offroad use only" on the cert. of origin, but show them the inspection letter and they will call Boston and figure out this is legitimate and they will give you your plate.
(Be calm and nice while they run around and try to figure out what to do.)
I'm gonna put this out there again. Street legal, light, cheap. Pick two. I would personally give up the street part. It's a DIRT bike, or an adventure bike.
Only reason why I don't wanna give up the street thing is because there are virtually NOOOOOO places around here to ride a dirtbike. I'd hate to have to throw it on the trailer every single time i wanna ride it. At least with a street title I can go mess around in "forbidden" areas and make my escape :P
Plus it's fun rippin whillies past old people sittin on their stoops :D
I agree... If you can only have one... Make it a real dirt bike that is also street legal. Then start coming on some rides!!!
Wish I had 3 g's.

Awesome bike... but wouldn't pass MASS inspection
... what am I missin?
Oh. No blinks.
blinkers... hi/lo beam ... horn... chain guard.... reflectors...
thats why god invented Baja designs.
You CAN have light, cheap, and street legal. Im yapping about a plated dirty...not an adventure machine or commuter, or anything else. Ride it out of the garage, to the woods, and back into the garage.

I threw on the spare Baja kit that came on my motard, and game on. I even got my boat stickers. Cough, $1300, cough. Zero hours on a fully rebuilt motor.
Agreed...baja kits rock!
I WANT A DIRTY BIKE!!! :pcbash:
Chippah, I'm fuckin jealous... hate you. Find me one of those in a 4 stroke version and I'll let you stare at my girlfriend's boobs all you want.
I'll make sure she wears nice bewbie shirts at the track when she comes up. :naughty
Whaddaya think, should I just bite the bullet & spend 2800 bucks on that really nice DRZ/KLX 400?
I'd prefer something a little lighter weight, but I also want reasonable power.
Of course I also want a smokin deal.... :mope:
I'm gonna stare at her boobs for free, and Carla too. So suck it Trebek.
A klx/drz will do EVERYTHING you want it to. It's only hangup is the bouncers. Which, I'd imagine, could just as easily be upgraded. What you want to look for is a plated drz-e or klx-r. The s model is detuned and heavier.
Yeah, that's what this one is that I'm lookin at... 2800 is just a little steep & he's saying he's firm but it's a pretty freakin nice example from the looks of it.
I posted it earlier

Just talked to the seller. Made arrangements to go check it out on Monday
That's a sweet bike. The 400 is coveted by woods guys.
Nice. What Paul said.
Yeah this looks like it could be a good score. The guy sounded a little young but seemed relatively intelligent and honest. I asked a bunch of q's about it's street legality (horn? blinks? hi/low beam?) so he went out of his way to make SURE I didn't drive down there thinking that it's more of a street bike than it really is. Based on that it seemed to me that he's looking to sell it to the RIGHT person, not just get it out of his garage asap to the highest bidder even though he just bought a house.
I'm hoping someone doesn't show up with cash in hand & snatch it out from under me. Sucks I can't make it down there till Monday.
