I bought one of these huge 4x4 toys and don't regret it at all. I had my share of sport quads, Banshee being the last. The sport quads are good fun but I have been having allot more fun with the beast. I don't think that you will regret the purchase one bit.

Ewwww....tough call. I now have both. I love the utility Arctic Cat I got. It's 'only' a 400, but it's plenty to plow my road with and it's been able to winch the trees up the back yard and pull the docks out. Yet it's light enough to have fun with on the trails. But I DID just get a Raptor 660 though. While the 400 was plenty fun on the trails, nothing is like blasting through 'em on something like that...
Either way, do yourself a favor and get over to Barnstead Powersports Plus. Talk to Fran and tell him we sent ya. He's cutting some outrageous deals. His stickers are usually $300-500 under MSRP as they stand...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
I thought about getting a Ute as well for plowing my driveway in the winter and towing firewood out of the woods...However I've been using my Rappy more for work lately than pleasure so I'm thinking of making a trailer hitch for it so I can get the firewood out of the woods...and I have some scrap plywood that I can try and rig up a snowplow withIn other words, get a sport quad and get creative to use it for work

I will also add this: Nothing beats a 4x4 with locking differentials for spring-time muddy fun. NOTHING. But ya can't launch & wheelie much on 'em either...![]()

I bought a KFX700 and love it. its designed for big boys. Its kind of heavy, but hauls butt down low. I have never got stuck and normally only ride it in winter. I would recomend taking a look at it if you are over 5'10'' and 200 lbs.
i dont want one... but i do recall... crashing my dirtbike while trying to cross a pond once. a little more than hip deep.
Over the hill down towards the water comes one of the those 700 Kawis... witha back seat with armrests, and a gun rack. He rode right out into the middle of the pond, hooked the bike witha rope he pulled out of some storage thing, drove in weird circles to stand it up and pulled it out while i kept it up. Driver never got a drop of water on him... and when we all left, he lofted the front end and dragged his gun rack all the way up the hills out of the area.

It'll take you into the woods to go hunting, and push a snow plow a lot better then a sport ATV. If you try to ride it fast through the woods it'll beat the tar out of you. It all depends what you want to use it for whether it's a good choice.

For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction - and sometimes a scar...
Incredibly well put! A 2-wheel drive sport quad will NOT push the snowfall we get up here...
Oxxenheimer: You need to seriously sit down and figure what you'll use it most for. I needed a yard buggy, and the 'Cat is incredibly well suited. But once I got it out on the trails, I realized how badly I wanted a sporty one. I ended up with both (Arctic Cat 4x4, Raptor 660), although this gets a bit pricey. On the other hand, the 4x4 will go through ANYTHING. They're mini tanks and are GREAT to have during the early spring & winter for the trails. But get 'em out on the typical NH trails in the summer and you'll be wanting for a sporty ride. It's a tough call. Either way, do your homework. Not all quads are created equal...

yeah i had a big kawi 4x4 v-twin monster. there fun no matter what the haters say.
ox, like stoneman said think about what your using it for. open pit riding they get boring anything else there a blast. they go anywhere set up properly. i rode my kawi alot more than my z400 i had at the same time.
Quads are for fat kids of people who suck at dirtbikes
Oxx you fat fuck!
hehe
(okay fine I once rode a Ute quad in Hawaii and had a good time.. but overall don't like em)

ok. ive "test ridden" a few atvs in the past. when i worked at a Kawi, Yam, Suzi dealer i rode them all. from the Bayou to the Brute Force. we had 2 shop quads. one was a 660 Raptor and the other was a 500 Vinson. i could ride the 500 faster through the woods than the 660 because of the independant suspension. the 660 was just too stiff and too much work. the 500 was smooth. i took out a few Brute Forces and they steer kinda like a Mack truck and it get worse in 4WD. the KQ was like caddy. smooth, fast, powerful, FI, and yes.....it would wheelie. i could put a plow on it and do the driveway since my neighbor throws all her snow in my spot.and i think it would be alot of fun to go "mudding" with it. the MX ATV were fun on the little track in the back. i loved the Z400, YFZ450, and the K700 was interesting, but heavy. but i really dont see me doing that kind of stuff. i wanna do some trail riding, some technical 4X4ing and some mudding. it just looks fun to me

you've been to highlifter.com? crazy mudding. its fun till you sink one to the bars and fill the crank case with water, then have to walk home leaving it in the woods. ask me how i know....![]()
I had an ex400, and I never had any problems staying with the 4x4 even through the muddy spring rides. Actually most of the 4x4 guys were pretty surprized. With that said, If you are looking for something that does both 4x4 and sprot fairly well, take a look at the polaris scramblers. I do not have any personal experience on them, but from what I have seen they are great sport riders with some utility capability. That said, I'm on the band wagon of 2 wheels is better than 4 any day, and style![]()
