    Cool Woot!

Before work this morning I put a heat cycle in my freshened 91 KDX. I did a top end and found both powervalves had been broken. Replace both, cleaned and greased the whole assembly, and banged her back together.

Nice smooth power off the bottom and a fun kick in the pants when the powervalves open. Now I know why this was such a successful bike for Kawi. It really has the best of both worlds. It's quiet as hell to boot! Now if I can just get her to stop smoking...

Paul the KDX220 and 200's are one of the best woods bikes.

This guy makes an exhaust spacer for it to give more torque called the Torque Ring They know there KDX shit too.

He also makes Ice Tires for it. You really need to get a set and come racing with us this winter.

Yeah, I thought about getting a torque ring, but I'm kinda wary of 10 dollar mods. They usually have some drawback. I suppose it's only 10 buck down the toilet if it doesn't do anything.

Apparently the best mod is having the carb bored out. Eh, I'll leave it stock til it gets boring. I do have a spare expansion chamber I intend to repair and modify for that day I find the power lacking.

Cool, another ring-dinger. Kawi dropped the KDX's from their lineup for 2oo7. I'm going to have hold onto my 'O6 YZ250, as long as they keep selling pre-mix oil.

Not sure about the exhaust spacer, but I put a FMF Gnarly pipe on Paige's 'O2 KDX200 and it kinda muted the top end. The extra bottom end was noticeable, but the shortening of the powerband was not something I cared for. For woods, that bike should be plenty fast as-is. Maybe an aftermarket silencer to shed some pounds.

Yeah, 2 strokes are dying, but KTM seems happy to keep producing new models. It's more marketing than anything.

Honda's been experimenting with direct-injected, single cylinder two-strokes for a while now. They've got one in a trials bike that seems to be running fine, and outboards have been using it for years. Should be only a short matter of time before there're more bikes with it, but too many generalizations in current emissions laws (ban all two-stokes!) may stymie them statestide.

Ski Doo has direct injection on 600cc snowmobile motor, sips oil and big increase in fuel economy
