Since I picked the wrong time of year to start shopping for a track bike, seems any bike set up with suspension is out of my price range. How important is upgraded suspension for a track day bike? Can a moderately fast guy have fun and no issues on stock suspension?
Short answer.... yes. I raced all last year on stock suspension. Had a blast.

Depends on the bike. Go, have some fun.

The advice I was given was to buy a bike that already had some or all of the usual goodies installed. Given, I was looking at SV's, which probably need more help out of the box than most 600's, if that's what you're after. But the economics make a lot of sense; buying all the goodies 2nd hand, pre-installed was way cheaper than building my own. Way, way, way cheaper.
Wow.... yeah, I'd say modern 600's have pretty good suspension out of the box. As long as it's fresh, I'd go that route.

Odometer says 14,720 miles, but it's not accurate because of the gearing. This bike is totally sorted out and ready to go. It has served me well, but now it's time for me to focus on my family (2 kids now).

The goodies on the bike:
*Full ohlins suspension - set up by P1 for 165 lb rider
*Ohlins steering damper
*Yoshimura rearsets
*Vortex levers
*Vortex Clipons
*Full M4 carbon fiber exhaust
*Engine covers
*Race bodywork painted black
*Fully safety wired to CMRA specs
*BS R10s with a couple of TDs left in them
*New battery with tender
*Fresh oil and filter, plus fresh coolant (engine ice)
Currently in race trim, but could be converted back to street as it does have a clean/blue title (not on my name). I do not have any of the street bodywork, though.
I recently bought the bike from another member. He did mention the bike had a crash before he owned it. When installing the suspension, P1 did a review of the bike and found everything to be straight.
The bike handles really well, but I have a business opportunity and could use the money towards that.
I am only interested in partial trades for 08+ Ninja or CBR 250, Ninja 300 or Honda 500, plus cash on your side.
The pic is old, the bike looks the same minus the decals.
