Hey after hearing all of our trackday stories a buddy of mine whose been road riding since the early 70s finally signed up for one. psyched for him. Anyway we'll be putting my 636 and his rc8r, a narrow bike for sure, in his silverado. Any suggestions for staggering bikes, rear tie downs, or what to do as far as tieing down each inner clip on? I've seen various scenarios on the web. He's only carried one bike at a time in it. I was thinking making some 2x4 thing into 2 chock like things that are connected together to keep the bikes separated and putting two eye bolts in the middle for inner tiedowns.
Thanks.

I have used the cheapo HF wheel chocks. Gotta be careful where you drill. Gas tanks, frame, brake lines, wires. Just be careful and make sure you can access it so you can get nuts on. I put a Heavy duty eye bolt with big washers in the center for a tie down. I also didn't use the handlebars but wrapped my tie downs around the lower triple forks....I also made heavy duty ramps using (2) 8ft construction planks with the ramp kit available at Lowes. http://www.lowes.com/Search=loading+...ing+ramp+kits#!

When i carry 2 sportbikes in my Sierra I use clamping wheel chocks (Condor). I don't bolt them down; not necessary. Front tie downs (I use canyon dancers) pull the bars forward and keep the chock/bike wedged against the front wall of the bed. Tie downs are a bit tricky to weave thru, but doable. A single tie down point in the middle of the front of the bed would simplify things.
I've never done anything except tie downs from the normal anchor points.

If you put both bikes as close to the wheel wells as you can upright, you should be able to have them side by side without clearance issues. I've done this a couple of times with no wheel chock or anything, in a Silverado as well. Like Smutty said, just the usual tie down points.
You just have to be a bit more thoughtful about how the straps cross over the front of the bike around the bodywork. You might find it better to run the inner clip on strap to the bed pocket instead of the lower bed hook.
This is the tricky part and it varies from bike to bike. For example on my RR I have to go through the upper, but on the 300 it goes under the upper, but above the front wheel fairing. If the straps are going to rub on plastic parts try taping a rag or towel to the strap where it touches the bike.

Thanks all. I am probably over thinking it. As usual.

I had 2 sport bikes and a motard in the bed of a GMC full size, but with the 6.5' bed, so 2 sport bikes is easy. I did bolt in a center tie down in the front if the bed in the truck tho, was easy. In my case, both sport bikes were facing normal direction, and the motard I put in backwards and between the sport bikes
