I'm heading up to Loudon this weekend with my friend who will be running in the novice GTO race. This will be his first experience racing in the wet and I was curious if anyone had some tips. He's only missed one race this year so he's otherwise somewhat familiar with the track in the dry.
It seems like a lot of you have a good deal of experience on that track, so perhaps someone could chime in with sections to keep an eye on, do's and dont's, etc.
Thanks in advance! - Seth
PS - Kiyonari is not my friend

I'll second the 'be wary in 2' comments. I was told to setup on the right edge of the pavement out of 1A, one smooth input BEFORE THE TRANSITION so you get most of your turning done BEFORE you cross onto the oval and can shoot past the T2 apex about 3' out, mostly straight up and down.
Rain tires RULE!
Good point... I'll add ONE TURNING INPUT PER TURN to the list![]()

Thanks. I'll pass this along. See you Sunday!
I did my 2nd td in the rain and the best tips I received was to overexaggerate the body positioning and like previously stated...SMOOTH!
Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember a small pond forming from T 11 to 12. something to keep in mind if it gets heavy.

Raint tires are great...i was broke and stubborn so i raced in the rain on DOTs. it was alot of fun but don't excpect to be battling for possition with the guys that do have rain tires.
SMOOOTHHH!!!... especially on the brakes.
deffinatly go wide on the apex of 2 i highsided out of the seat in a rain race there (landed back on bike and kept going)...and watch for the slippery spot in turn 10. don't sweat the stream that forms inbetween 10 and 11...you are pretty close to straight up and down at that point so just blast right through like it isn't there.
GO FAAASSST!!!...hell yeah. go ahead and lay into that throttle on the exits. just make sure you know how to "ratchet" the throttle for the inevitable slides.
get it right and it will be the most fun you ever had. you WILL feel like Kiyonari...even if you are 800% slower.
