Hey guys,
I moved to Maryland recently and found out that theres a track called Summit Point in West Virginia that does motorcycle track days pretty often. If any of you have experience or input about this track that would be great. I'm going to go check it out this Saturday with a friend of mine who is running an autocross event there and I am looking for some suggestions on where to find, and which relatively cheap track day gear, such as leathers, gloves and boots to buy.
I'm about 5'9" and 165 lbs if any of you have some old stuff lying around. Thanks for your help and I'll let you guys know how the track looks Saturday night.

I've done 3 or 4 events there with NESBA. They actually have 3 tacks there...Main, Jefferson and Shenendoah. I have a air cooled 750ss and really like Jefferson. The Main is really fast and the last time I was there I was spooked by all the pavement differences and transitions. But most folks really like it. I also know they repaved sections last year. Not sure how it held up. I've never ridden Shenendoa but it looked to me like a Cart track...I don't think I'd like it much...
Check out the NESBA website for their first time track day riders requirements. You may not need as much gear as you think...
BTW...you are probably not much further to VIR...a WAY more BETTERER track!!!
Good luck...

The WERA board is a good place to find used gear.

Not very well. I went out to Main in October and it was ripped up again...damn cars.
I ran Main and Shenandoah, and I like them both. They are 2 totally different tracks. Main is definitely faster but Shenny is very technical. I hated it at first during my morning sessions but fell in love with it by the afternoon. Some decent elevation changes as well as carousel turns. Lots of fun IMHO.
Since DicDave mentioned VIR, I'd also like to recommend NJMP. It'll be 1 year old this summer.

Thanks man.

Summit point (main) is really fun. Lots of high speed corners and a pretty crazy main straight, think it was 3500'
Shenandoah was pretty neat too, very technical. The use of concrete walls as runoff kind of made me nervous though. For most of the track your "runoff" consists of a 2' concrete wall to bring you to a nice safe stop.
