Hey Guys
So I have a track day next Monday and I have a woodcraft rearset that was bent by the previous owner of my F4. The rear break leave and rear set plate need to be bent back and I have neither a torch or a vice to do this work. I have access to one in Beverly but I live in Southie and would rather stick around Boston.
Anyone IN Boston or surrounding willing to let me use your stuff so I can get these fixed? I offer beer and my wonderful company!
Please let me know.

I dont think youll have much luck bending it back, you will have to buy new
Well I have had a few guys tell me I can (including PK who looked at this bike when it happened) so I am holding out hope. If I dont then I buy $80 worth of woodcraft stuff. No problem.

you should be able to bend it back no problem.
put up some photos. You may not even need to use a vice, just something with leverage.

So I was 50% successful. The break pedal went right back. It has a small twist in it but very minor.
Now the rearset plate actually cracked very slightly when I bent it back. If you notice in the picture the bend was right at the connection of the peg to the plate. Had it been in the middle it would have been fine.
So now the plate is being ground down (v'd out) and welded (yes I know its aluminum) by a subcontractor of mine. He has a guy who he said will weld and make it look like it was never cracked. I will post up pictures when done.![]()

I might have an extra right side rearset plate lying around from when it was mine....I will check later today.
Thanks!! Its the break side. Let me know if you do and I will take it off your hands in case I need it.

Here is the break pedal bent back. This was very easy and I didnt use any heat on it. Just a vice to get it most of the way and a hammer and piece of wood to finish it.
Yeah pigman it cracked ever so slightly and I have a guy willing to weld it up and fix it for free so no complaints.

I guess I was thinking steel, not aluminum?
Hey Pigman
as to why? why not if I can get it done? This wasnt a typical stretching crack, it actually cracked and then I beat on it a bit to get the peg as straight as possible. I figure why not if its free.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
Time vs. Money... it would've been cheaper to get the parts. I sell each woodcraft part individually.

Hey Ted
How do you figure? It took me about an hour total and a certified welder fixed it for me all while we were shooting the shit and talking business (he is a steel contractor I use on a regular basis). I saw it as win win.
Oh and I am cheap. I dont do this stuff because I dont have the money but I like to do shit on my own.
Oh and Awesome, yes I agree...its certainly not perfect but is pretty damn good.
