The day before the Tony's day at thunderbolt Denno and I did another track day at the other NJMP track, the Lightning course. It was a blast... I actually think I liked it a bit better than thunderbolt. The lack of passing rules may have added to the fun however
Here's a video of us swapping some laps in the afternoon when I catch up to him in the middle of a session after some traffic... in this case I am on his 636 and he's riding my R6.
Several things to note:
- I'm not quite used to his lack of slipper clutch lol... you can hear me fuck it up going into the sharp left after the bridge
- I fuck up with his tranny a time or two... not used to the gearing maybe... once in the second lap it does something weird before the banked turn
- My R6 is faster than his 636 the straights even though he has a built motor
- With his Loudon gearing the 636 usually tops out a little bit before the T1 braking zone
- At the end I ran out of gas mid corner... thanks denno!

nice...looks like a lot of fun!
Great video. Love to see the track. I want to go now!!!
Looks sweet! I am still itching to try Thunderbolt but I did enjoy Lightening. Here are three videos which are segments of the same video in order of me riding at Lightening with a chase camera guy.

It was raining lightly so I'm even more conservative than most are used to seeing me.
Does that long left make it HARD to stay on the throttle full blast? I know folks were flat out on bikes much more potent than my SV650S but I often failed to stay on the gas but I did improve later on.

Yeah richie keep the 636 if you want to do any days at the NJ tracks... definitely would be a better bike for there.
Dave, nice vids! Do you mean the long RIGHT hander, the banked one? I can't really comment on what to do there because my drive out of it wasn't the best haha

lol @ the end.
i can't wait for next year to try that place out.
I too was wanting for more speed as the difference between a 600 4 cylinder machine and my 650 twin is damn big at Lightening and the closing speeds are a tad dangerous. Not that the SV was boring, it was really fun.
The long right I am talking about above is the end that ends going under the bridge. The long high banked one that ends the lap was fine for me and while it took a while to get my knee down around it I was still very quick there compared to most riders. The on that ends under the bridge... I would hav folks BLOWING past me only half way around because I wasn't flat out on the gas, not even close.I could here the camera bike in your video going to neutral throttle well before standing it up and braking. Guys on liter bikes were absolutely flogging them from the top of that right hander coming onto this "straight" and down the hill into the sweeping right. 140+ indicated speeds!
Dave
Luckily after I stood the bike up some gas sloshed back around to the bottom of the tank, so I made it to the pit road, where the bike proceeded to fully die and then I had to push it lol
Yeah that's because I ride like a big pussy haha... the camera bike is me on Denno's 636

Yeah I want some of those brake pads you have.... holy shit!! Those make my setup feel like mush... and I have better than most bikes stock... SS lines and galfer HH pads.
Really what my bike needs most is a decent rider![]()

Denno do you have the SRJL-17 or the SRJL-XX pads?
