Mont-Tremblant Circuit
This track day is run by Tremblant Superbike Club. Essentially, as I understand it, you become a member of the club and can ride whenever you want at their events. They are the only track day group and there are no walk in paying customers. Either you are a club member (which is very expensive from what I hear and not very many of them) or there is basically no way to ride this track. I'm told the event we attended is the only one of the year where non-club members can get in and even then it seems hard to do. I got a spot due to someone's misfortune of injury who could not go. Too give an idea of price we paid 340/day. Woah!!
Because its a club that was developed to avoid the nuances of the restrictions of a typical track event (going fast and riding as much as you want) everyone there would be considered advanced at any other track days, and these guys are all veterans of this track. It was by far and away the fastest group I've ever seen (but very clean!!) its also a group not particularly interested in helping a new rider find their way around. "If you are new put an X on your back" is the intro!! Certainly no sighting laps or anything. I found a dude I recognized from Calabogie and he showed me the line for 2 laps then it was go time!! Its also hard because everyone speaks french.
The day itself is full open sessions, ride as much as you want whenever you want. The track itself is 4.2KM and really really nice. The pavement is excellent, good runoff, really fun flowing track with elevation change and a good mix of turns. It is very very fast. Very fast. The first morning was touch and go finding my way around but the afternoon and the second day were great and I really felt good. Picked up the pace and was feeling at home. Not sure what else I can add, but I hope to make this trip a regular one as Tremblant is a great family vacation (my wife and Kids are up here and we will stay till monday). Hopefully Ill track down the photographer and get some shots as I forgot to on Friday.

Wow! If you were running the outer-most loop then yeah it's fast. Doesn't look like anything less than 4th gear even on a MW bike.

i wish they'd open it up to us common folk. its the only track under 3hrs from me.![]()
This was my second year going and will always try to make the trip. As Manny says its pricey, but personally I think its worth it. The numbers are kept really low and its open track, no groups, no sessions, you ride as much or as little as you want. Not to mention they tech your bike at your pit, valet style. Last year I burned through an entire tank of fuel in one session!! Unfortunately for me this year, I had a major work issue and spent most of each day on the phone
As Manny mentioned while its a fast bunch (e.g. Pascal Picotte is a regular), but everyone rides safe and clean. Never saw a sketchy pass on either day. Its a self policing bunch, no real control riders or anything. One of the reasons its a closed/private event. Basically you get invited or you get referred by someone who's already been to a previous event. They keep the squids out for you.
The one thing that some might put some off is bike retrieval. Basically, they do not close the track for bike pickups. They only close the track at 10:30, 12 and 2:30. If you crash or have a mechanical and can't ride it back, your bike stays out there until one of those retrieval times. If your hurt, they will roil the ambulance and get you, but your bike stays. The good side is, you get more track time, the bad is your bike could get stuck out there.
BTW - Some of you may be surprised how fast and smooth Manny is going these daysI think the Canadian tracks suit him!

Hot damn! Bill signed on!
Jankster and I did 2 days with team promotion 4-5 years ago. Chris had a great time, I liked the two sessions I got to do before I crashed and test rode the ambulance. The track is great but the facilities are really lacking, dirt padock, crappy bathrooms, and yeah crime is huge in the area, especially large american trucks w/ or w/o trailers. I know that alot of the snowmobile lodges up there now have fenced in parking with security guards for this reason. I would do it again, if there was a more track day like event available, at a more reasonable price.

Ok, ok, the rest of the story.
Bill is a paranoid paranoid man when it comes to getting stuff stolen. I have tended, over the years, to give him a bit of shit about it.
Anyhow on the way home from the track we stopped in Montreal for dinner. We went to a pizza place 5 minutes from where my wife grew up, a safe area I know very well. We parked on a main street a block from the place and Bill was nervous about going in and wanted to get take out. I said "dude, itll be fine, lets go"
15 minutes later the truck window was smashed and heres the kicker, only Bills stuff was stolen.
