had an awesome day at NYST yesterday. the track is so smooth with the new pavement they recently put in. tire wear is nil. cant even feel the knee puck sliding.
theres some stuff that needs refining at the facilities but the track is in its infancy so i expect it to keep getting better. the owner is a cool kid and let me spin a few laps the night before in my car so i could get the basic layout.
i spent the morning on the KTM learning the track. its very busy. no rest until the front straight which really isnt much longer than NHMS it seems. after the front straight its all work. the wheelie hill in the back is a little tricky. i found that actually wheelieing over it upset the bike less.
i had zero issues keeping up with and even passing 600s and up. its a little bike track for sure. motard friendly. id lose them on the front straight and be caught up by turn 3.
we ran "uptown" (counter clockwise), in this configuration you have a few blind turns, off camber, late apex, double apex, flat, downhill, uphill, decreasing radius, fast and slow. this track has them all.
i can see running "downtown" (clockwise) making the track more open. less blind, and decreasing radius corners. i think going over the wheelie hill could get sketchy though since theres a turn right after it and you would be carrying WAY more speed into it. id have to do it on a bike to see how sketchy it would actually be though.
all in all i really like this track. its a tricky track that took me a little longer to learn than usual. by the 2nd session after lunch i had my lines down and shift points/gear selections. when you get it all right, its very rewarding.
i cant wait to get back out there in a couple of weeks. so any of you guys on "little" bikes that were concerned about the track being to big...have no fear. the track suits them well.
hope to see a few of you out there
EDIT: i also shot a bunch of video. i hope to get it edited tonight.

That was our biggest fear, but once you know it's there and how steep it is, you actually tend to overbrake coming up to the hill, and have to get back on the gas for the corner.
At some point, however, I can see the Motard guys trying to jump the hill and land it sideways to be set up for the corner.![]()
This place sounds incredibly fun.

Downtown
Very fun. Last few sessions were a wash out but tomorrow is gonne be perfect weather so the trade off was worth it.
The track has tons of traction but in my opinion it is a little over-done. A few too many turns IMHO. The elevation changes are fun, really fun.
Nice, thanks...heading there in the morning for tomorrow's track day
Loved the event last Sunday/Monday with Tony's Track Days. As usual their crew did a great job of making everything snap! Tony and my wife are both clearly from the Italians that can make trains run on time.
We ran two days in the "Downtown" direction and it was big fun. Even though the curbs aren't there yet and perhaps there could be a bunch more runoff in some areas... the track is just fun and flows. It's more like a cool ass back road. Personally I liked that the only places I was really hauling were the front straight and just before the jump and yes I did get at least the rear off the ground. Probably both off the ground but not at the same time if that makes sense. I like turns and am not interested in straight bits so it's my kind of track. If you like the big straight at Thunderbolt or Monticello you won't like this one much.
Arcy got a pic of me with what seems like all the TTD crew who were out in the black group. I was probably blocking like mad because you almost can't help it on this track.

i cant say. they both have their good points. to be honest, ive yet to ride a track that i dont like or would never ride again.
i liked the speed i could carry through 5 and 3 running downtown, but i like wheelie hill on uptown and i feel as though uptown is more technical for some reason.
they really are 2 DIFFERENT tracks

Just needs to hold the wheel and break the bead.
but you have to operate the bead breaker with you hand because the lever doesnt return.

Yea. And lol. I guess I'll find out when I pick it up tomorrow. Regardless I'll be working TPMs tire machine if anyone needs something swapped.
