My trusty old Suzuka warmers may now have an issue. If I stick my fingers underneath the warmers, the front feels quite hot but the rear one never seems to. It only feels warm, even when used on the high setting (they are dual temps). These warmers don't have the fancy digital readout so I can't tell what temperature the tires are at, though I have an infrared thermometer I could use to get a reading.
Questions -
* What surface temperature on the tire is considered normal?
* If the rear warmer isn't putting out enough heat, anything I can fiddle with, before I go out and buy another set? Is there a "usual" problem - i.e., the switch/box, or wiring etc.?
Thanks guys.
Borrow a IR gun and just lay it out and shoot the temps at full hot, in a pattern and see what you get for numbers.....probably have a bad wire or break in it.

I've already got an IR gun, thanks for the offer #9.
What temperature is normal? 150-160?
Compare it to your working front unit.
Normal is an illusion, what is normal to the spider is chaos to the fly.
Do the warmers get hot? ---NO---> Get new warmers

Good tip, thanks.
I always love when very specific questions prompt incredibly insightful and deep thoughts like this. I asked about working temperature and any common fixes, not how tire warmers work.
Guys with the digital warmers, what's a normal operating temperature on high setting for a warmer? I see that the operating range for warmers is a broad "130 - 225 degrees" I am wondering if you guys know of the actual temperature reading on low/high and can share it. So I can find out if I have a problem first.

Well, I went ahead and bought the Woodcraft dual temp Gen IIIs, will pick them up at Loudon tomorrow. I'll measure the temps on those to get a point of reference and see if my suzukas are off significantly. Thanks all.

I ride a yellow VFR that I enjoy low-siding at the track...so I'll probably be driving up. I'll shoot you a PM with my cell number. I'm not an electrician but I've got a good grasp of the basics!
Where abouts do you live? I can always swing by after work if you're nearby-isn.
