I'm looking to try out a set of 1.05 fork springs for a SV 650. Before I go and buy a set I thought I would check to see if someone had a set that I could try at a TTD event.
I know there are a lot of SV track day riders and thought it would be worth asking.
wow, those are stiff for an SV!

I'm bottoming out with 1.0s right now.
Cough Cough 240# bare naked cough.
Working on the weight but in the mean time......
Lemme know if you sell the 1.0'sI keep bottoming out on my .95's even with stiff valving (cartridge conversion)

Hmmm. I'm note finding 1.05s available from Racetech.
Where else to look?
What about sonic springs?
Good call on Sonic.
They have 1.10s and pretty cheap I might add.
If nobody comes up with a set to try in the next week or so I will just buck up and buy a set.
Pick up a set of 1.10 springs and just try using a 1.1 spring in one fork and keep the 1.0 in the other. Then you will have the equivalent of a set of 1.05 springs installed. If that works, then sell your extra 1.0 to Pete & he can try the 0.95 & 1.0 spring to get 0.975 equivalents = win-win!
I am 265 with gear on right now and I am running the 1.0s and I don't bottom anywhere. Perhaps you need to work on getting more weight on the pegs instead of the seat.
Also what are you running for a rear spring? If you have the stock rear spring and 1.0 fronts then the front is working to compensate for the weaker rear spring. Also what exaclty do you mean by bottoming and what turns? If your bottoming in 10 especially get out of the seat!!!
Good luck.

I'm running a 550 on the rear.
Most of my bottoming comes on the brakes through the bumps into T3.
Braking a little later and smoother helped keep the metal to metal clank from happening but I still was pretty deep in the travel. Things also got better once I moved my line a little more to the left.
Over all the front feels pretty OK but the hard bottoming was alarming. It was not every lap but enough to make me think that I need to try something different.
Another thought is to adjust the emulators a little. Any thoughts on that?
Maybe I just need to work on my technique some more into T3.
Actually I was having my best day through T10. On the gas and on the pegs. Pretty smooth actually. Usually I have trouble here but the shock seems to have helped quite a bit.
Thanks for the feed back.
So, I'm guessing you are riding a Gen2 SV650 (03 or newer model) with the 550 lb rear spring. On the Gen1 SV650, the 650 lb rear spring works good for 190 lb rider. They changed the shock linkage for Gen2, so it now uses a softer spring to get the same effect. When I bought my TZ250 and rode at Loudon for the 1st time, I was bottoming the soft forks really bad in Turn 6. Ended up changing from stock (0.72 kg/mm) fork springs to a set of 0.85 springs, which worked really well with a 240 lb race bike + 190 lb rider.
You might want to raise up the fork oil level a bit (add more fork oil) to make a more progressive set of front forks, if you aren't bottoming in Turn 6.
On my '99 Gen1 SV650, it helped a bunch to raise up the back shock to about 13-7/8" eye-to-eye length, over the stock shock length. Sorry, I don't have any good numbers for Gen2 SV650.
Yes, you guessed it. Gen 2. I should have mentioned that.
Thanks for the tips.
I was running 1.0 springs re-valved with #30 oil and a 700 spring on the rear [elka] out back and I didn't bottom any where on the track 280lbs with gear here gen 1 sv

Bottoming is also an idication of incorrect oil heigth and you probably need a heavier weight oil.

Or try gripping the tank with your legs so there is less weight on the bars.![]()

Try heavier oil. I think stock it comes with like 5 or 10. Put 20 in it. Also look into Intimators. They are drop in valving.
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...
