all depends on what YOU feel safe using.

just saw the LAPS post. couldn't tell if mine is 75% or 85% available.
Tires - MUST be in good condition. Sufficient tread is required to be able to last the day. We'll be looking for 75% of tread available for DOT tires, and 85% remaining for slicks - our tech inspectors will be judging this on an individual, bike by bike basis. We do have on-site tire service through Street and Comp and Bridgestone tires, so if your tires don't pass, you will have the opportunity to put on replacement tires to pass TECH.

I'd ride on it, but that's me.

If the steel beltings are not yet exposed your good to go. If you expose them, just stick out your inside leg and drift it for the rest of the race.
If LAPS won't pass that tire, then I can't go.

Just looking at the picture... I'd pass it.

r u kidding me? plenty of meat there. stop bitching & call fat-shel
I have no clue but part of me hopes they consider what group your riding in at least partially. I mean that tire looks good for all groups but if its in the slowest group it would probably be good for 20 more daysAt least if i was the one on it.

Actually, Sunday is my youngest's birthday (the big 3!), and Saturday I'm pulling my chain and spockets off for some new one's that just came in - I wish I could.
There's plenty of tire left there, especially for a track day.
I run my shagged race takeoffs at TDs until they are completely toast... otherwise it's just like throwing money away...![]()

I didn't say it wouldn't pass inspection.

Kham...it appears by the photo (and please understand - we DO NOT and CANNOT judge equipment by photos to either pass, or fail TECH), however, as I said, it APPEARS by the photo, that you'll be all set as far as the tire goes.
That being said, there's a couple things I need you to understand;
1. We will reserve final judgement until we actually have the tire in front of a tech inspector the day of the event
2. We do take into account to some degree which group you will be riding in
3. Simply because you have enough tread at the beginning of the day, does not mean that you will be able to complete the day on that tire....especially if you have only marginal tread remaining at the beginning of the day.
I don't want to see a huge debate on whether or not this tire is OK on here, leave that to us at the event. But since you brought it up and threw the photo up I thought I'd chime in.
Hope this helps
Mike
