so it's finally dawned on me that track day would be like riding through some nice backroads, on good pavement, with no cages, and no police.
that sounds like heavan. I also imagine that it's really, really addicitve.
Anyway, I know nothing about track days, how to sign-up for them, what I need to do to my bike, etc...can anyone direct me to a good newbie primer for how to get my feet wet with this whole thing? R7? HeSoDrunk? Nazo? Oreo? Kham? I know a number of you are track junkies...
thanks in advance,

Anyway, Jim already posted the links i was gonna share w/ ya. And it's definitely well worth it, Chris. you'll have a blast. I just wish i could afford to not only buy the slot, but miss the day of work, too.... it sucks they're all when i'm workini either have to miss a day of work or try & switch w/ someone that works on the weekends, which isn't always the easiest thing to do

Well first if you want a smooth track with good pavement, you'll have to wait until the next NESR VIR trackdayOriginally posted by chr|s sedition

Tony puts on a great trackday and that's probably your best bet as a newbie track rider. The bike prep like he has listed on the site is pretty simple. You'd be surprised at how many people ride there bikes to a trackday, prep them quick and are ready to go in 15-20 minutes. If at all possible, i would try to avoid riding there and back though, it's a long day and you'll be extremely tired at the end, not to mention "if" you end up having a bike get-off that could leave you stranded
Take a ride up on the next race weekend and have a look around, it may give you a better idea to see how people ride/race on the track. One of the few nice things about Loudon is the spectator viewing, you can see the action up close in a lot of the turns. The only bad thing about that is you'll probably want to start racing....
