On-bike video of Black group at Thompson last Monday. Enjoy. If you can't be there, you may as well see what it was like.Anyone else have some video?
I have some yellow group video that will potentially be uploaded soon. I say this every time though.
Iblack group.
All these years, I've always done intermediate in an effort not to be a slow jam-bike to the fast guys. My reasoning was 1. EX500 and 2. SV650 aren't quick enough to stay out of the way of the fast guys.
Now I realize that was just stupid. Shoulda been up there all this time.
For anyone that cares, that's me around 4:30 and on with the red nekid SV and white/blue leathers that say "Madden" on them. I've got the classic Loudon curse: comfortable on lefts all day, not getting my upper body off the bike enough on rights. I somehow think Thompson will help with that.
For videos:
Here is me following around NESR's very own LXPony for a session. He has the same GSXR that I'm building to be a trackbike so I was curious to see how it could do.
First session in black group in the afternoon:
Same session as Ken's video, but from the view of Oreogaborio's bike.
I will say, it took me half the day to figure out some of that track. Once I started getting clean laps in black, things starting stitching together much smoother. Next time I'm bringing warmers, 15 minute sessions are too short to spend 3-4 minutes of that getting tires up to temp. Just personal preference for me, I like to know 100% that my tires are ready before I am.
Another thing I was surprised at was how tight this track was. After watching Savas' video, I figured it was much more open/faster. It's a 3rd gear track most of the way around. Less of a HP track than even Loudon IMO. SV was perfect there.

Good riding Clayton.
That's video from Pete's bike is fun. I rarely see myself on video.
This was TTD's 3rd day there. Not too hard, not too easy to learn. As with any new track, we keep refining the line, though. This time it was turn 3.
Here's a good video from my friend Waylon who had just bumped up to the black group last weekend with TTD's at Thompson.

From the video it looks a lot like Monticello with the long turns and slight elevation changes
Corey
Lot tighter than Monticello.

Love the vid, Iglu. I am always stressing the benefits of a quick turn in and I demonstrate it pretty well at 9:31 (turn 1) and then again at 9:52 (turn 4). Quick turning is one of the best ways to increase confidence and step up your game...and it allows you to get on the gas a lot sooner. Try it.
Vid from the Yellow 3:30 group from my SV tailcam.....just the passing parts (usually me being passed...

People are always weary of getting to the outside of a track or road. What if I mess up, not I have zero chance for recovering and i'm in the grass.
On the road, I always practice riding the outside line to build up my confidence and awareness of getting to and being on the outside. It is a real confidence booster that can and does help with situations like 1-2 CT; 4 ,6 7 NJMP; 4, 6 NHMS; 2, 11-12 NYST (Counter) 18,12-11, 10, 3-2, 1 (clockwise). The biggest part to putting all of this together is Entry and Vision!!!!! Most people can get 2parts out of 3 for a turn that Paul mentioned. Yes, they can enter (Many variations) a turn and get to an apex (many variations) but often times have a hard time with the third and probably the most important part. The exit, outside of the turn pointed in the right direction while on throttle.

Thanks to Dan and Kim for this cool shot of me. This was in Yellow group on Monday afternoon. I was getting close to getting me knee down, this is one of those pictures. The very last session something clicked and I put everything together and was able to comfortably get my knee down and feel comfortable with the lean angle and speed. Once I did it a few corners in succession to each other it felt great.
