Is there a gain to this?
If so, is the gain worth the trouble?
I mean, I've seen people fab VFR swingarms to fit FZ1's...is it really worth it in the end?
Not to me it's not.
The answer is "To each their own".
well...as far as I know, take the current swingarm off, put the new one on...the 02' is lighter, and offers greater rear-end stability and improved handling...thats what I have read...or I could go buy an 02/03 9R

I would be cautious about changing swingarms. It could change the geometry of the bike, and without an experts opinion, you may not realize all of the effects. I would consult peter kates before going forward. If it does actually improve, how much are you really going to notice it?![]()
Supa Motarded! If you see me backin it in, keep watching...Im about to crash

The 02/03 swing arms are braced on top, the 01 is not. I imagine the improvements would be pretty minor and I cannot imagine how it could weigh less... But, if you can get one cheaply, it's a pretty easy swap. You might need special tool 57001-1354 to get the pivot locknut off/on the right side.
i have an 2002 zx9 and it definetly handles better than the 2001. A friend of mine changed his 01 to an 02 and he said it does not ride the same as mine and it seems a bit worse than he stock 01 swingarm
