A bit less than the 160whp Ducati claimed it to have...
well maybe it needs a lil more breaking in? Wasn't the 160 for the R model?

That's 145hp on a stock 1098S with 20 miles of break-in and running VP U4. Stock with pump gas it put down 139hp. That's pretty good numbers for a twin.
Check this out a bit more: Hordpower :: Ducati 1098S
Look at the 999 / 1098 comparison. The 999 had aftermarket pipes and was putting out 10hp less with a shitty power curve. The 1098's curve is much smoother and producing more HP. Hordpower :: Ducati 1098S :: 1098vs999
1098 vs RC51 SP2... 17 more HP for the 1098! Hordpower :: Ducati 1098S :: 1098vsRC51
A CBR1000RR with slip-on and PC3 was putting down 152. Hordpower :: 4-cylinders and Cruisers, Oh My! :: CBR1000RR
Overall bottom line is if JD says he's impressed with the 1098's juice.. I am too. JD is a hell of a engine builder. Spend some time poking around his galleries and dyno charts.. lot of neat stuff HPR - Hordpower, Art of Twins Not to mention the weight savings and handling the 1098.. that bike is going to scream. 5.. FIVE of them racing at Loudon this year, I can't friggin wait to see them in action. Not to mention Jeff and Eric are going to have one for Penguin..

Funny.. haha. I just watched some YouTube video of this guy from the WERA board who's mom was on the Price is Right back in 1983. She won a entertainment center. I just want to be entertaiiiined.

91 ft/lbs is absolutely sick, your talking immediate power delivery. If I only had the cash![]()
The 160hp number is probably at the crankshaft. That is the typical way factories give their HP numbers. It makes for better advertisements. Figure approximately 10 to 15% loss from the crank to the rear wheel. That would put the Duc at about 144 to 136hp at the rear wheel. So this one is putting 139 on pump gas, not bad at all. Watch how the hp numbers vary, as the bike gets out and about with the various media sources.

Several have dynod at 148hp at the wheel, not bad at all. If I had enough post I would have been able to post the link.
